  • Technically copyright stops them. I know, the whole copyright debate on AI training hasn't been settled. But when you sign a contract with reddit or dropbox, I assume it includes a licence to use the content to train AI.

Here on Lemmy, I never gave a licence to my instance to reuse my content. and I keep full copyright on the content.

Well I know, nobody cares about copyright, but there is a difference between OP downloading a torrent of my little pony and a company making tons of money out of it. Remember that the pirate bay founder got jail time,

  • In take-out ? Never, is a thing in the US ?

In delivery, when the weather is bad, or the delivery was fast, I let 1 EUR to the delivery person

In restaurants, when the service was above average or I'm in a good mood, I let 1-2 EUR.

  • Get a good lock. These "Steel U-type" are pretty hard to break, even a good 'steel-chain' type lock will be more than the average bike on the street.

There isn't a standard technique yet, but may-be your municipality or police department has a bike marking system which would basically makes the "stolen bike harder to sell"

These 2 things together would limit the risk as your bike is now hard to steal, hard to sell so they'll go for another one.

Also, can you park your bike in a locked place ? Like a bike room in your appartment building or your house entry-hall ? Not having it outside most of the time also limits the risk

EDIT : Realize that I made the steel/steal typo

  • New hardware, so wanted something moving a bit faster than debian, and I thought it was the opportunity to switch from Ubuntu is an old African word meaning I can't configure Debian to Manjaro is an old African word meaning I can't configure arch :)

  • IANAL but some thoughts

    • If I look at https://sh.itjust.works/legal I see tbd so I assume that the basic law applies to SJW meaning I retain copyright of what I publish, the instance owner is just a "web hosting provider", and that I never consented to get any data shared meaning they can't
    • If I look at https://legal.lemmy.world I don't see any place where I am expected to give a perpetual irrevocable perpetual licence to commercially use the content I created (while it's very clear on reddit), and the session about user data is pretty straightforward

We do not sell or disclose user data under any condition, unless required by relevant data protection authorities, any other law enforcement authorities, or if the account owner requests the data themselves.

I am not going to check every single instance, but basically, with my limited understanding of internet copyright/pricacy laws it means

    • The instance I'm logged in share my content (out of the strict minimum to get the federation working) it's a copyright violation, this would also apply to someone downloading data from SJW (Which by sharing them would be a pirate, remember that the pirate bay owner have been jailed ? )
    • As I didn't consent to get my personal data shared with third parties, they can't share it. By personal data I mean the whole profile that reddit build from our post and sell to advertissement company (So OP like cat, live in city A, travels a lot, works at company B, run Linux and is interested in socialism and LGBT rights to take a cliché of the average lemming)

With all of that, it seems it'll be pretty illegal to train AI using lemmy's data (with may-be the academic purpose exception). That said we all know that internet piracy is illegal but we all do it, and it seems that when Silicon valley billionaire do it, they get praised

  • No shit sherlock, reddit terms of service allows them to use the content you create commercially so it's surprising it hasn't been done earlier :)

Considering the whole reddit subculture of meme, private joke, and weird slangm and conversation full of Dunning Kruger, comm'on we're all guilty of that . I am not a language model training on reddit would be more accurate than chatGPT.

I am not really sure on which licence is the content we publish on the fediverse, but considering the level of shitpost, and the leftist tendency on the fedi. I am curious about what an AI trained here would say eat the rich, Blahaj is so cool !!!, Micro$oft is evil use GNU/Linux, Prolatariate dictatoraship is overrated we want a catgirl dictatorship Sound like it could be an awesome AI, can't wait so see business consultants using it :)

  • I bought some Pu Ehr in nest (delicious tea actually, but not for everyone). So the game is to take a small chunk of the nest put in a tea pot, just like regular tea, at first it might be quite hard to free some tea out of the nest but after a while ti's degraded enough so that it goes

  • Try to get yourself an old switch from ebay to practice setting up a small network, vlans etc., and you've got a solid start.

This is what (older) millenials had to do when they wanted to play video games with their friends, no broadband internet, we moved the computer, set up a lan. Good old time. But this is how 20-25 years latter, I have basic knowledge of network, and look at puzzled Gen Z kids when I tell them to set their IP adress and ping the hardware

  • I pay about $220 every two weeks for my HSA “High Deductible” Plan

Which is actually not that much, based on my January payslip, 680 EUR have been removed from my paycheck to fund the government health/retirement/unemployment system (Which is based on my income, and I have a decent salary). There is also a part which is paid directly by the employer (and not visible on my payslip) so let's say 1000 EUR a month. However, I keep coverage if I loose my job, and my highest left to pay was around 70 EUR for some imaging test (If I remember well total cost of the scan was 700 EUR with a 10% copay, and to answer the other question, got an appointment within 2 weeks). Note that the coverage would be the same (but way cheaper) for a minimal wage worker, and that I could get a private insurance to cover the deductible.

US conservative are right when say that Universal healthcare is expensive but I am rather having 700 EUR out of my pay check every month and not worry about getting medical care when I need it.

  • Out of curiosity, which "sampler" did you use ? I have the impression that on anime model, sampler change a lot on whether you want a smooth "modern anime" drawing or that kind of little blur which my uneducated brain associates with impressionists

  • Everytime, I read a horror story about US healthcare, I am like can't be the norm, it should be a made up clickbait article based on an exception

Please US friends, tell me you have a decent coverage.

Moreover, everytime I read about before insurance prices it doesn't compute. How can an US doctor charge like 10 times the prices on our side of the pond ?

  • I am not a psychiatrist, and I think that healthcare is too serious to give I think/believe uneducated opinions.

So I would let this topic in the hands of trained professional rather than internet strangers/trolls

  • dice are only there to make noise behind the GM screen

    Rules are just suggestions

PC death shall not be the result of bad dice roll, but a consequence of player actions one of my classic fudges to avoid it is to suppress the critical rule, and to replace single die system by multiple dices to have outcome easier to predict
