Lol so is this just a thing with Facebook advertising these days? Last time I went on a couple of months ago, it kept advertising the exact same cardigans to me over and over but from different 'shops'. There were even two with completely different shop names that had the same sob story about a "going out of business sale", complete with crying face reactions as if life long fans of this shop were sad about the news.
I find it kinda funny in a way. Here's the social media powerhouse Meta making advertising central to their business but they can't even bother doing a little quality checking and not letting it be flooded with obvious fake shops that can't even do deception and trickery right.
They'll make statements like this and then complain about people assuming that they're racist bigots. Because I'm pretty sure they're not talking about the '90s when Mandela was still in charge and there was hope and joy in the air in South Africa.
The well run 'South Africa' that they long for so much was the South Africa where the previous government only bothered doing their jobs for about 3% of the country before patting themselves on the back for a job well done. And they're comparing that to a government that isn't perfect but that also took on a lot more work and responsibility, and hasn't just drawn lines on a map and labelled huge sections of the country as "homelands" that they don't need to bother with.
I sincerely hope that when these people are flying over, there's some big mishap with aviation caused by Musk and they end up at the bottom of the sea.
Wait, so in all these years that Europeans have been making fun of dumb Americans for having a two party system, and for having no real left wing options, the UK has been basically the same?
Of course they are. They were already halfway there by spending their free time listening to assholes talk and preach on podcasts. And I'm sure it goes nicely with all of the bigoted, misogynistic content that they consume.
So did this UK "centre-left" party turn out to be a Trojan horse or what? They've dismantled trans rights. They plan on using AI thought police to 'predict' future crimes and criminals. And now they want multibillion corporations to have free access to anyone's work without compensation.
If I hadn't looked this political party up on Wikipedia, by this point I would be assuming that they're a bunch of conservative wankers on Elon Musk's payroll.
The Hop Harrigan 1946 serial and the Congo Bill 1948 serial. I found a Hop Harrigan torrent that sat at 0% on my list without even downloading metadata for about two years before I gave up. And I couldn't find Congo Bill anywhere. Something tells me that Congo Bill would be pretty problematic and full of insulting stereotypes these days though.
Don't count on it. I'm sure they'll fit right into a trailer park in Alabama. But don't expect people who are going to make your society a better place for all to live in or anything. I wouldn't even trust the ones who are interested in going to Democrat run Minnesota, as the article says. They'll just help the Republicans take control there next time.
The problem is that most of the 'spam' comes from official things like websites that you've signed up to and didn't realise would also include dumb fkn emails periodically. And they don't always do it right away either. I've had emails suddenly start arriving from somewhere that I signed up to like a year before.
Personally, my spam mitigation is to have one email address for signing up to shit with. Then these assholes can email me until they're blue in the face and I don't care because the only time I ever visit that inbox is for verification. And then I have another email address for personal use that never gets used because who uses email for personal use these days?
In conclusion. Email is for signing up to things and collecting trash that I'll never look at.
That's a good point. The big shift probably also coincides with more of the masses getting online. Back in 2005 I was a Symbian user and we used to laugh at the Apple people paying crazy premium prices for 'smart' phones that couldn't even multitask.
This kinda follows the same pipeline that everyone else went down on Facebook and Twitter. At one point, the internet was all about Anonymous and Zeitgeist and revolution.
Then one Arab Spring and a couple of years later, we all went from Anonymous and Zeitgeist to thinking that billionaires and businessmen are the answers to all of our problems.
Not that I would wish them on the Americans but I hope that more fuck off from this country soon. We'll all be better off here if every dumb fuck racist meat head that misses the old days would just go away. I'm sick of the second hand embarrassment and being associated with these fucking confederate inbred hillbillies just because of my skin colour. And I'm sick of religious, patriarchal, macho bigots.
So, sorry for the USA that they'll now be your problem but this is good news to me.
We just need to get clergy on board and telling their congregations that the magic man under the ground is trying to conquer the realm of Earth and expand hell (that's why it's getting so hot), and that the magic man in the sky would really appreciate if everyone would stop making the magic man under the ground's job so easy.
We need to stop using big sciencey words like "climate", "change", "global", "warming", "weather", "melting", "ice" etc. and use words that they understand like "demons", "hell", "bad juju" etc.
You're onto something here. I'm starting to get more and more convinced that the only way to get the majority of Americans voting for reasonable people is if those people are ex reality TV stars and talk show hosts and shit. They need to assemble a team of Oprah Winfrey, Ricki Lake, Judge Judy, Guy Fieri, that asshole from the cooking shows, maybe Simon Cowell is free.
Then these people will forget all about concepts like 'meritocracy' and buy endless funny hats, foam fingers and Oprah™ brand bibles and be starstruck all the way to the voting booths.
This person says they signed on to the Trump team because of “DEI going too far” and because “woke culture was dividing the country,”
Retranslation: This person says they're on team reality TV star who hires news readers, influencers and family members to high powered positions without any qualifications because "DEI bad". And joined the people who made 'wokeness' an issue to divide everyone with in the first place because they're worried about it dividing people.
The main one that comes to mind isn't a song but a band. I LOVED In Flames. Now it just reminds me of a really shitty time in my life involving heartbreak and the end of my first band.
4 every day. But sometimes 9.
Edit: or is it actually the other way around?
