  • I agree with the article, but i hate the way the author just admits defeat at the end. "I hate everything about it! But i won't realistically leave. And actually you can keep doing it all, just let me hide hotels pretty please". Ugh.

I can't claim I've managed anything more, beyond periodically re-testing the alternatives, but i just hate to see it written., Feels like it undermines the whole argument when they make clear that Google will see no consequence.

The biggest hurdle for me, is that many businesses and other points of interest are missing in the alternatives. And if not missing, then useful data like opening hours, reviews, etc aren't there.

But i hate every moment i spend in Google Maps due to the advertising and bad UX, and I will jump ship as soon as something comes even close (on Android).

  • Is true, i don't need reading glasses, and maybe one day I'd feel differently, but the OP asked for personal views on foldables, and at this moment in time, that is my view :)

Plus people of all ages did fine with smartphones with 3-5" screens for like a decade, including iPhones 1-5 i think.

  • It's cool technically and i love gadgets. But practically speaking, when unfolded, it's too big, and when folded it's too small (plus a waste of money if I'm not opening it to use, and thicc). Just a simple small slab would be so convenient.

The flip seems like all the ergonomic issues of a large phone, with the added hassle of needing to keep opening it. Still enjoy following the tech involved though.

  • I want to use the same (synced) browser across all my OS's, so the main reason I stopped using Firefox is because their Android tablet UX sucks.

Vivaldi works great though on all my devices and I'm super happy with it.

  • Don't go iPhone SE, go iPhone Mini if you do switch. I will not switch, i already tried iOS again recently but there's too many irritating things that sent me running back to Android (please no one ask me to start listing them all). But if it can fit for you, go Mini.

  • I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S22 because it literally was/is the smallest flagship on the market. If there were a flagship option with a 4-5" screen I would probably snap that up immediately.

I love the full-face screen with small symmetrical bezels. Performance is good. Wireless charging. Decent fast charge. Good cameras.

Don't love that it could be smaller. The camera module makes it rock when flat. I wish the back were not glass. Not a huge fan of the One UI stuff, but it's not the worst either.
