  • That was from the 14th. Too late now, isn't it?

  • Sure, probably. Still qualifies though, right?

  • Current circumstances do seem worrisome. But, we've been threatened with that for all my life, and even decades before I was born. So who knows. MAD is a certain thing and I don't think entire countries are unstable enough to let that happen. I'm not really sure what Putin is getting at threatening all of Europe. The situation with China and Taiwan doesn't look good, with the US pledge of taking Taiwan's side for independence.

  • This awful video I saw where someone put pizza in a blender and turned it into a casserole

  • I’ve heard people call doing a u-turn “whipping a shitty” and always thought it was a dumb term.

  • “The recent elections also feel like a cultural tipping point towards, once again, prioritising speech.”

Reminds me of how Elron is saying they’re going to censor or punish “negative” speech, as decided by Elron. Just in reverse. I can imagine the type of opinions Zucker is planning to enable on FB etc due to the “recent elections”.

More political discussion sounds completely awful as having a constant stream of irritating or provocative political topics shoved in my face is why I left Twitter. Currently threads is surprisingly good about that, so makes sense they’re planning to ruin it.

As far as making their systems work better for not censoring things that don’t need to be censored, that would be nice as it’s been a legitimate problem. I don’t have a huge amount of confidence though as they’ve always been terrible about that, like Twitter.

  • wow, that is definitely extremely horrible.

  • Lovely how this incredibly wealthy person is laser focused on making things worse for poor people. I suppose it's the usual ploy of making people as desperate as possible so people like him can prey on us more easily.

  • I agree. It could bring about positive changes, but slowly, and it will be much worse at first. Of course Trump and co-conspirators will manage to blame the problems on Democrats somehow.

  • The specific example of the health care guy says everything about that too. Deny someone health care and they suffer and die? Or maybe hundreds of thousands of people? No problem.

  • Okay. Can I get a hotline to call when a corporation fucks me over in some way?

  • I’ve been aware of this since I was about 8. Not sure what Chloe is so upset about.

  • I told my friend from Australia that I heated water for tea on the stove in a saucepan and she said it was barbaric

  • They are also used in bandage packages, also some medical soaps, sanitizer and anesthetic - metacresol and phenol.

  • I definitely don’t like the creosote based preservatives that give it that weird smell.

I have type 1 though, so it’s indisputable that it’s healthier for me than no insulin - without external insulin, I’d be in DKA, a coma and then dead probably in less than a week.

  • Pretty obvious that this guy is a stupid asshole, so makes sense. Congrats to his daughters for telling him to fuck himself. I had a parent who said incredibly stupid shit like the “liberalism is a mental disorder” line I would not talk to them either.

  • As the line misattributed to Betty White goes,

When someone calls you weak, they associate it with a lack of testicles. Which is weird, because testicles are the most sensitive things in the world. If you suddenly grew a pair, you'd be a lot more vulnerable. If you want to be tough, you should lose a pair. If you want to be real tough, you should grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding.

  • That’s how my dad is. Mechanical engineering degree but is entirely clueless about basically everything else, ranging from household cleaning to understanding other people’s motivations.

  • Go to a porn site and look up “washing machine”. It’s very common in mainstream porn these days, along with an irritating level of “step mom” and “step sibling”. It tells a tale of incest and basically sexual assault where a family member gets “stuck” in furniture or an appliance with their butt sticking out.

  • Sure. It depends on the topic. It also depends how good you are at searching. Personally, I don’t have any difficulty finding quality websites via Google or DuckDuckGo. Sometimes it requires refining the search terms, and many people don’t know how to do that properly. For certain topics, I might not. However, i stand by my assertion that some statistically generated text which you can trust at all is less useful than a good article on a topic. Is Wikipedia useful also? Yes, it is.
