  • For the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros, Nintendo released Super Mario All Stars for the Wii. It was just an emulation of the SNES game from years before. It was released for $30 even though you could buy all of the original games on the Wii shop for like $21 total. It just reeked of "We know you've already bought these games like 4 times, but please buy them again". They did do a better job on the 35th anniversary though.

  • My experience about a year ago. Try to hop into a game and find people complaining about bots and just vote kicking people constantly, then I got vote kicked. Join some more games that vary from people just standing around taunting, to more vote kicking, and everyone wearing stupid looking hats and shit. I used to love the game back in the day, but I gave up on it after a short time, it just felt unplayable.

  • I read the whole article, and I'm just confused. I didn't really see much actual criticism of the cruise itself, just a rant from some guy who went on a cruise that he clearly never wanted to be on in the first place. It reminds me of being a teenager and having to go on vacation with my family, and just wishing I could be doing literally anything else.

I've been on a cruise once. To Alaska. It was a smaller cruise ship, though I still would have thought it was huge, had I not seen other ships 4 times it's size docked next to it.

It was a fun experience. I got to enjoy seeing a lot of cool places in Alaska, got to eat at a free buffet anytime I wanted, and even had my first fine dining experience. There were shows and fun activities to take part in. I also got a nice deal on it. I'm far from rich, but it was a really fun and reasonably priced vacation for me. I'll probably go on another cruise some day.

  • No way, I very rarely buy junk that I don't need. Spending money makes me feel bad. I just buy what I need. If it's something I REALLY want, then the pleasure of getting that thing might offset the unpleasantness of spending money, but it's a calculated decision. For example I might buy 2 or 3 video games per year to help keep me entertained, but I won't blow my money on tons of games I'll never play during sales. If I see something in a store and think it looks cool or useful, I'll normally just go home and think about it. I will usually decide that it's just junk that I don't need or want. If I really do want it, it will still be there later.

  • Everyone here seems to be missing the point and haven't read the article. Nvidia isn't being targeted because they make the hardware that enables training ai. They are being sued because they trained an ai using the authors books.

  • When I was in high school, I got a cd burner when they were still somewhat new. Another kid wanted me to burn some mp3s into an audio cd for him, so he lent me his external zip drive loaded up with his mp3.

I feel like zip drives only made sense from around 1995-2000. They filled a gap for writable media at the time.

  • I have no problem with developers continuing to create new content and give customers the option to buy it or not.

Loot boxes and gambling stuff and types of micro transactions where you are basically paying a fee to avoid artificial annoyance/grinding are a cancer on the industry.

  • Every person has good and bad qualities. Things like attractiveness tend to be the first one that people look at, but there are so many more that matter. It all comes down to what matters to you.

For example, someone could be smart and intelligent, but have no interest in the types of things you are interested in. They could have different beliefs about politics and religion. They could have a totally different diet, making it difficult for you to cook one meal to share. They could just be awful with money, or their family might be too intrusive into your life. There are a ton of different things to consider in a relationship beyond the surface qualities of a person
