  • I have a bunch of good developers, and my best guys have been around for years. I have newer people that have been on the project that have been around for the same amount of time as the problem people who get their work done and learn and get better consistently.

  • I'm really laid back and have given them a long time to learn our code base and how to contribute. When I have to pull multiple all nighters and the end of a long release cycle to fix or finish what they worked on it's not worth it. I basically can only code at night because I spend my day in meetings, planning or next release or helping people with their stuff.

We work remote so either they are really dumb and won't ever get it or they slack off all the time and wait till the last min to slap shit together and it isn't right.

  • They are literally useless. even when something is explained to them they still mess it up, or need the same thing explained again the next time. Most of the commits they have was someone wasting their time to explain change by change how to do it. It would have been worth the time investment if they learned and were able to do things on their own. at this point but they aren't and freeing up the people who have to consistently spend their time helping them will be a net positive in productivity.

  • Not real people and their skin color has nothing to do with the story. Biopics about black people generally have to do with their struggles as a black person so having a white person play them is wrong and dilutes the value of that person's story because a white person doesn't have the same adversities.

  • I mean if I laid off %25 of my dev team we would see a boat in productivity. They leech time from one of my senior devs and don't get any better. Def getting rid of 2/4 useless guys and giving 1 of them as much of an opportunity I've given any body and one is going to be next to go of he doesn't shape up.

  • The biggest pain in the ass I've dealt with was using a directshow lib to implement flash on a new camera we were supporting for a desktop application. Working with a device graph and pins is beyond frustrating. We're porting functionality to the Web and my dev working on the camera just needed to call capture image to trigger the flash.

  • I'm a contractor, and I can't express it enough how much a competent Govie makes a difference on project success. My last Govie was amazing, unfortunately he got promoted. He got replaced with 2 new govies that were formally contractors, and they are the worst, they are dumb micro managers that don't even understand how our program operates. One of them litterally sends us emails of his Gemini questions and responses with highlights. The other leads and I are very competent and have all worked for 10+ years on our project, and he sends us fucking AI responses about shit he doesn't understand about shit we do understand. Our morale has been absolutely crushed, and I have a running chat with my other leads which is just a non stop bitch fest about how fucking useless they are.

  • When all your friends are in one circle and all are married and you don't go to bars or the gym it's better than nothing. I enjoyed it for the most part, definitely got laid more often.

  • Most people's problems are shit profiles and bad swiping.

Find/take good photos. I used photofeeler to test my photos and it helped.

Have a decent short bio that has something the girl can bring up. Mine was my hatred of mayo, almost all my matches brought it up as a discussion point. On Bumble it was most often the ice breaker.

Don't swipe right on the 8/9/10s that you have zero chance at. If a girl out of your range has a profile that describes you sure swipe right otherwise don't swipe on girls you have zero shot with. It messes your algorithm up. If you want to fantasize about hot chicks look at porn otherwise be honest about what you bring to the table and swipe in your realistic range. If you're a 3 a 5 should be your 10.

Advice from a decent looking (but def not hot) slightly overweight at times person, who got my fair share of dates, some hookups, and some girlfriends from online dating in a smallish dating pool.

Met my wife randomly through a coworker 🤷‍♂️.
