Feelings? What do you propose, that we allow the entire country to turn into areas like Oakland, Detroit, or Chicago? I mean, there has to be law and order. Are you proposing we "loosen" up on things, and just hope people will get nicer?
"Shoot anyone they want" is a exaggeration. There's over 1 million police officers in this country, over 30,000 police departments... how many would you say are just "going out and shooting anyone they want?"
Name me another "democracy" with over 300 million people, from 1000's of different cultures and backgrounds...who's doing it right? The point is, you all seem to make it sound like it's so easy... there's not another country on the planet in a similar situation as the US.
The US is one of the largest countries on Earth, with all sorts of different crimes from different walks of life. Street gang or not, it's imperative that we have strong police forces throughout the country to minimize crime. You think it's bad now? Imagine if no one would wanted to be a cop. Imagine if every time a cop did something wrong, they were fired or imprisoned. We'd literally have no one wanting to do it. I don't think people understand how big, and free the US is. Whenever you get something like this, strict law enforcement is not only needed, it's required.
Okay, fair enough. To counter, officers typically have to make split second decisions that can mean life and death. They don't want to die, just like you and me. They go to the home, it's clear someone broke in. They announce themselves, 15 minutes later, someone comes walking to the door holding a gun. Now, how SHOULD have the cops handled the situation? Again, it's SO easy to say "well, they should have done this..or that..." when it's not you constantly worried about whether or not you're going to die every time you put on your work uniform.
Someone breaks into a house, and then walks to the window holding a gun...I mean, ya'll make it sound SO easy being a cop and reacting to split second decisions that can mean life and death....
Sure, I'll mind my own business... if those same homeless people will stop coming up to me asking for money, stop using drugs around my work, stop drinking alcohol and yelling at people, and stop shitting and pissing on the building I work at.
Hey man, it's all good that she was still winning and throwing people in jail. I don't give a fuck, I vote more to the Right, so I'm all for tough on crime and punishing people. I was just simply pointing out that she was very controversial when she was in SF. At one time, she was promoted herself as "anti-progressive." I think her position on drug related crimes help get her support from other voters than just Democrats too.
She was HUGE on the war on drugs...threw just about anyone and everyone in jail for the simplest of things...so yea, she wasn't very liked during her reign in SF....
I just can't behind this 'let's go easy on drug users and drug sellers" mentality. I'm in California, and I swear the whole drug use and homeless crisis is getting worse, because we aren't really punishing drug users. We're just leaving them alone,...meanwhile, they're robbing stores, building homeless camps where they can use drugs..etc...it's just crazy. Look at places like Kensington in Philly...where it's literally zombies walking around half dead...and no one seems to care.
This is silly. Republicans, including MAGA, overwhelmingly support Ukraine and don't want anything to do with Russia. It just takes a few bad apples to make everyone start screaming about how MAGA are Russian lovers... however, what often gets ignored in all this is the fact that Ukraine was once considered one of the most CORRUPT countries on the planet. It's not about lack of support for Ukraine, it's about making sure the funds are spent appropriately. Republicans are just making sure the funds are doing what they're supposed too. Apparently, if you ask questions about this type of stuff, you're supporting Russia. At least that's what the Left is trying to say..,.
Does that go for both sides? We visited Portland a while back, some of it looked like a 3rd World Country...and we all know what party is in control...
You're talking about enforcing certain laws to keep them off, that's different than what Colorado's doing. Colorado is deciding on their own that Trump is guilty of something, and therefore, must be kept off the ballot. Our voting system can't allow states to determine who's guilty of what, and who to keep of the ballots, simply based on opinion.
"Colorado laid out in detail why someone shouldn't be on their ballot...." So, by allowing this, any state in the country can do this...."Texas laid out in detail why Biden shouldn't be on their ballot, therefore, he's not..."
Too bad she's not a black, lesbian basketball player! She's be home by now!
