  • Shinobi Vs Dragon ninja was and is an absolute masterpiece. Sadly I don't want to listen to it any more as Ian has ruined any joy I could get out of listening to it since the news of his abhorrent dealings came out.

  • Thanks for sharing that barely coherent rant. I'm now both 3 minutes older and I probably lost some brain cells trying to process his nonsense. Who reads this and thinks "Yeah, this guy's got a handle on reality and some good ideas."? It's rage bait for people who are already angry at society.

  • Thanks for reminding me of how good David Wong used to be at capturing popular thought and placing you into a certain perspective. I might not agree with some of the generalizations of that article, but it does help understand their perspective.

  • This really puts into perspective not only how ridiculous the price of this mansion is, but also the general state of complete and utter insanity that the real estate market finds itself in today. And the saddest thing is that this is not just a BC thing or even a Canada thing...real estate is being priced out of the hands of common working folks in most of the western world.

  • I'm not sure this is done with as malicious and conscious intent as your comment seems to suggest though. The Cons are seeing their voter base go hard right into MAGA land, and they know they need to follow to remain being electable. It's pandering to their base that led to the Republicans to end up with nutjobs that make Sarah Palin look moderate, and it's that same pandering the led to Daniel Smith making it to (and holding onto) office. And this voter base shift is also affecting the Liberals - the disillusioned former Conservative voters that didn't jump aboard the choo-choo train to wackoland still demand their voice be heard. So Liberal politicians will have to make more changes to their stances to reach out to them, resulting in a gradual shift right for them as well.

  • I will gladly, cheerfully, trade any 39c day for a -39c day. Cold is easily manageable with more / better clothes. Even when dressed for the heat, it still saps your energy like crazy and makes you feel like shit in the process.

  • EXistenZ - The final question "Are we still in the game?" really summarized the first watch experience. You have no clue what's going on anymore by that point. Same goes for Total Recall by the way - that movie also has you guessing what's real and what isn't throughout 90% of the runtime.

  • Back before music piracy was a thing; because who's going to download a 3-4MB file on a 14k4 modem? By the time you grab one song you'd have racked up such an internet bill you might as well have bought the single.

  • This is like asking why Logitech doesn't make their own CPUs. The skillset required to make a popular front-end client are vastly different from building and maintaining a good backend system, not to mention the costs are vastly greater. It makes much more sense for the creators of these apps to take their skills in building front-ends and applying it to an existing succesful backend like Lemmy/the Fediverse.
