Generally, the staff and vibes are cool. I met some great people working there. They like to put up that front that they're trying to be cool and edgy. I was a cook for a long time at that point and flipping eggs isn't exactly hard or special, but they made it this big ordeal, which is fine but you can't look me in the face and tell me that what we're doing here is a culinary feat.
With me, I worked at their GCM location in L.A. and they were opening up a new spot in Glendale. They asked me to help open up the store under the stupilation that if I worked for so long and did 'X' things, I would get a promotion. When it came time for the raise and I had completed what they asked of me, I was constantly told it would happen, but they would give me the run around. Until finally someone else in the store was eligible as well, so instead of just giving us both the position they made us do a 'cook off' and when me and the other persons food came back exactly alike and they couldn't discriminate the begrudgingly gave me a portion of what they promised.
I cooked for them well, did what they asked of me, and came in on time so they couldn't fire me unless they wanted to pay me unemployment or maybe have me file a fucking lawsuit for unlawful termination. I just didn't play ball with their bullshit and didn't let them walk over me because they left such a bad taste in my mouth with my inital (verbal) offer being essentially reneged upon and they didn't like that at all. So they just made my job hell until I left. L.A. was hands down the worst place to cook. I'm sure there are a lot of opportunities there for people, but man if you aren't taken advantage of at every turn...
Oh, also. When L.A. raised their minimum wage, the store in Glendale didn't get the raise because it wasn't in L.A. and the whole store went on strike because of it. Don't know what happened with it. I just heard it second hand from an old coworker.
These fuckers are opening places all over THE WORLD and they nickle and dime their employees and generally treat them like shit. Fuck Jaime, and all of the owners (they were nice in person but they pulled the strings to make our lives hell).
Edit: forgot to say, glad you enjoyed your pancakes ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
Kinda irrelevant, but get fucked Eggslut. Worst place to work for, owners are a bunch of liars and have terrible management practices. This is absolutely killing them and I love that for them.
Just a step in the direction towards that, though. They'll pass it, and people will still pirate. Then, they'll claim the legislation wasn't enough and pass another bill further encroaching on our freedom on the internet.
I loved it as well. Honestly, all of the DLC well fitting except the last one which wasn't bad but I wouldn't play with it on every campaign like all of the others.
Plus being able to host and let everyone else without the DLC play with those factions was awesome. I honestly might download it and play a campaign or two.
My man, if you read what I said on this thread, you'd understand that I've recently moved from mainly gaming on a traditional desktop setup to gaming on a couch. I was only voicing my new feelings I've developed about gaming on my desk instead of couch. For a long time I didn't mind it but the past year or so I've had a different opinion. I was talking about making a little setup for using keyboard and mouse on my couch on a different comment. Sorry if I didn't clarify this well enough.
True, but I would like to prevent anything I can from happening in the name of longevity and preservation. Simple steps now could prevent bigger issues later when it comes to what I'm trying to accomplish here.
I still have my desk setup for when I want to use it, but I've ran a HDMI cable under couches and rugs to my TV to use as well. Variety is the spice of life I guess lol. I don't HATE playing certain things on my desktop setup, but I would much rather my couch setup if possible.
My next thing is to figure out how to use a keyboard/mouse while on the couch. Thought of making a little wooden contraption to sit over my lap with one of those bigger mouse pads glued onto it.
Is it weird that I'm about to go full circle? Started on consoles. Switched to PC around 2010, and now I'm kind of leaning towards consoles again. Maybe it's my setup for my rig, I can not stand headphones, a smallish monitor, or a computer chair to game in anymore. I've setup myself to be able to play games on my couch with my pc, but the fact that I never own a physical copy of a game bothers me so much - as I've gotten older I cherish the physical copies of games that I have and it's nice to go back and boot up my old console and play it no problem whenever I want. Can't really say that about PC barring GOG's attempt to preserve games. Because as it stands now, at some point a game played on PC will be rendered unplayable unless you really go through some hoops to get it running right. A small example would be Fallout 3 needs a mod to properly use RAM because it was only designed for a small amount (if I remember correctly).
I have 9700k and a 1080. For my rig, the processor seems fine for now but is starting to show its age in some areas but a solid choice still. The 1080 is really showing its age and I'm considering getting a 4000 series soon. I would skip the 2000 series because from the 1000 it isn't much of a jump. Try looking at the 3000 line and good luck.
Imagine a place where you are most cozy and visit it every night when you try to sleep. And then maybe sound machines. And finally, deep breathing. Slowing your heart down through this will physically make your body want to go to sleep (so basically meditiation).
I do all of these in tandem, I have the sound machine going and I settle into my cozy part of my brain and then imagine my lungs as a cup filling up with water to the top while inhaling and then draining out as I exhale. The trick with this is to not stress yourself thinking about if you're doing your breathing right, just try and relax and focus.
Also melatonin. But that isn't effective for every situation.
