  • ...that's the standard? wtf? 100mbps is a bit slow but would make sense, but 25???

  • Firefox/librewolf is a good choice. Very similar speeds to Chrome.

  • Think of it like email. Email is a protocol that people can use, but email isn't "owned" by anything. Instead, different mail servers (like outlook, Gmail, proton, etc) use that protocol to talk to each other.

Lemmy uses a protocol called activity pub, and different instances like lemmy.world, lemmy.ml, etc can all talk to each other using that protocol.

You're on the instance sh.itjust.works, while I'm on lemmy.xylight.dev, but you can still see my comment!

  • I feel like comments shouldn't be a part of "optimistic updates" (showing the result before getting a response from the server)

A good client would only remove the content from the text box once it gets a successful response

  • I have no experience with PWAs, but I'll try and implement a PWA for this app soon. It's meant to be more of a better Web UI though.

  • lemmy.world had some downtime recently.

Edit: looks like month old posts are being put in my feed again

  • It's surreal that some random project i made because i was bored is now gaining some traction and is being hosted on large instances.

  • Oh boy a 3 year old post is being put in people's feeds. There needs to be a warning for old posts

  • Yes, it's a common complaint that it doesn't use GTK 4 yet, it's still on GTK 2.

  • Obviously it's an exaggeration, takes about 2 seconds for me

  • A user got banned for mentioning Thunder for Lemmy I think

  • That's actually quite useful! Great idea for a watch app
