  • If the solution for the vulnerability is to update to a newer software version isn't it by definition not a 0-day exploit?

  • He looks like he is going to get a Manson style swastika on his forehead in prison.

  • It's not around inside, they won't get to keep military bases in their states if they seced, a second Confederacy would be occupied from the moment they began.

  • they are susceptible to any number off vote suppression and election meddling tactics, but an at large election can't be gerrymandered.

  • The article isn't about a scientific advancement, but a discussion of the limits on human rights in South Korea. "While South Korea has not yet legalised same-sex marriage, and sperm banks in the country are only accessible to heterosexual married couples, the pair were able to tie the knot in New York in 2019, and receive IVF treatment in Europe."

  • The last time I cared about Kid Rock was when I thought it was hypocritical to claim to be patriotic while wearing a US flag as a poncho, in direct violation of the flag code, then I saw Janet Jackson's nipple.

  • Every community lives on its instance(server).

When you browse your Local feed it only shows communities that live on the same instance you made your account on.

For federation: When you want to see a community on a different instance your instance will download a copy of the community from it's home instance. Then if you make a change, like an upvote or a comment your community makes the change on its local copy, then it sends a copy of the change to the original community.

When two instances are defederated they stop sending or receiving updates from each others communities.

  • Length of credit and credit utilization, you get points* for the length that each account has been open, so when you pay off your loan the account is closed and no longer counts. Also as you get to the end of the repayment it shows as a $30k account that you owe les than $10k on, you get points for using less than half or less than a third of the credit available to you.

*You don't actually get points, that would be too easy to understand, you get factors that affect a complex equation in your favor.

  • It's a good idea, but it isn't supported by Lemmy currently. Making a new instance like Blahaj.meta and only federating with Blajhaj.zone could be a work around, I don't know if it would be worth the trouble to run a second instance for that, also posts there wouldn't show up on the Local feed.

  • They have a very different view of what constitutes an unsafe space, for the last day or so every time I saw a username with pronouns my whole body would tighten up anticipating some randomly aggressive attack post. I hate that they made me feel that way about something that should be good. I will not miss them.

  • With out context, in the first comment everything after he first 2 sentences was just shit string and didn't add anything except vitriol, probably it and whatever it was replying to should be removed. I have no idea what your talking about in the second comment.
