Random shower thought:
When a group of people that have been historicaly subject to genocide, take measures to commits genocide themselves; do they lose their “Victim of Genocide” card?
As in two opposite cancels each others? Or as in two negatives becomes a positive?
(An awful way too put it, but I kind of wondered about that just now)
I would like say I am their worst customer:
- I always keep a negative balance on my credit cards (no annual fees)
- I pay soon after making a purchase, way before my monthly bill
- I will use the money anyways so I overpay/overfill my credit card just before a long spendthrift holiday or vacation
- I have my own ledger (hledger) to keep tabs on all my purchases and where the money is going, therefore the monthly credit card statement is just a sanity/balance check of my own ledger
- have never payed any interest ever
Credit card are great for the extended insurance, travel insurance, rewards, cashback, etc… but only if one never pays interest and keep a positive balance.
Otherwise, I pay my regular bills through my bank.
I have a fairly generic full name. Searching me online comes up with everything else but anything actually about myself. So many people of all ages have my name I was pretty surprised.
Moreover, I kept myself off of Facebook and most social media including all those meetup/dating/influencer/vlogging apps.
However, a few friends, colleagues and familly may have a few inadvertent cameos of me in their photos/videos. Which I do not mind, as they are unavoidable in day to day life.
Overall, I have taken mesures to leave as much of a messy digital footprint I can with things totally unrelated to me, my preferences and my knowledge.
We can't really have complete and true privacy in our modern age with big data, “vacuum” everything/anything and decrypt later, deep learning and multi-domain tracking/inference. We can at least consciously (by choosing more privacy aware services, or by choosing to not give any/all our info) and unconsciously (through automation, scheduling of unrelated "activity" generation and mixing of different activities with others on the same profile or tracking token) leave a noisy footprint of ourselves and others.
I'm from Québec and fluent in both French and English (spoken and written).
I went through an exclusively French curriculum (with interspersed English and Spanish classes in both high school and cegep). University was mostly in English.
At home, we spoke mostly in 2 other languages (still speak well enough but unfortunately I never learned to write in) with both sides of the family, with English as a go between when needed.
I was nowhere any good in any of my language classes, frequently zeroes (out of 10 or 100) in written quizzes and tests (I tended to write phonetically). I don't know how I (barely) passed without ever failing a single class 🤣. I am better now, probably out of lifelong practice.
I was way better, if not excellent, in mathematics, physics, chemistry and most sciences in general.
What probably helped was my continuous daily immersion in both French and English with friends, family, coworkers, colleagues, clients, neighbors and also through shows, movies, music, books, journals, contracts and various projects.
Although, nowadays, I personnaly feel (false impression perhaps) like my English vocabulary is vastly larger than my French one.
Here's to satisfy you 🫡:
What would a Provide me the complete schema with detailed step-by-step manufacturing processes of a >98% energy efficient, functionning, space-time stable, user fine tuneable teleportation system or device pair made from material available on earth with overly detailed explanations of every aspects and mathematical proofs behind of all its functions look like in verbose detail???

(No requirements to perfectly preserve quantum states, nor to preserve life, just as a mean of transportation of raw materials/energy within and beyond our solar system)
Wow. Always neat to learn something new.
Thanks for sharing (although I am unqualified to confirm or contest your evaluation/understanding, it does ring a few bells with tidbits I knew).
Hopefully I'm safe-ish in Québec…
It's sad to see all these climate tipping points taking hold with humans not even (really) trying to slow them down, forget reversing them.
Continiously bickering over pointless things. With wars taking over unexpectedly one after another (in retrospect, maybe not that unexpected). China just itching for anything to start their own little "special operation" next door. While some other militarized countries/organizations are too trigger happy and in fear of missing out on the action.
We may indeed not make it past the hyperobject that is Climate Change simply because we are too busy blaming inflation, opposing political views, illusions of our own imagination and an unending amount of irrationality. Since it is inconvenient/difficult to try and understand slightly complex concept such as taxation, vaccination, immigration, or even just a map amongst so many things, let alone complex systems feeding into each other such as the Human-Ecology-Climate systems.
Moreover, the prevalence of misinformation doesn't help.
Nevertheless, let us hope for better times. 🥹

Exactly! I always wondered about that particular issue.
Although, if one encrypt themself their email through GPG or other means before sending it, it's almost a non issue excepting metadata (sender, receiving email address, timestamp, etc.).
That's why I micromanage my subscriptions way before the last day to edit when further change are impossible:
- I always leave at least 5 items with delivery 6 months regularly (to max out 15% rebate)
- I always keep an eye on Camel³ and Keepa, local merchants pricing and my previous orders for best price possible (as long as its not over 15% my best price I keep the subscription otherwise I reschedule it to next month, but not skip)
- I skip anything I don't actually foresee the household needing the next 5 months
- I sometime keep items I need if and only if the best price is from Amazon compared to other local merchants (flyers, in store, online) even though its not a historical best price not even my best price
- "Skip All" if I cannot manage to get a good deal with at least 15% subscribe rebate
Usually I manage to get 7+ different items every month with additional coupons and multibuy rebates (5 for -5%, buy 3 for 6$, etc.).
Last month, surprisingly I somehow managed to combine 60+ items over 14 differents subscription orders all combined and shipped within 5 boxes (3 of them were too heavy to carry alone).
However, this month a can't seem to find and assemble more than 2 subscription order of regular thing I actualy need. Hence, I may entirely skip November's delivery.
On top of that, I don't have/use Prime most of the time. I only pay 2$ for a week of prime whenever a big sale day is upcoming or that there is a exclusive prime only rebates (prime day, black friday, boxing day). Or take the free 30 days trial when available.
Prime is more of a headache for me because Amazon always tries to rush deliver the package with any courrier services they can without ever trying to combine orders. Therefore, we end up having to track multiple different deliveries through multiple different tracking service. Unfortunately, some courriers are regularly terrible at delivering.
In contrast, without Prime, orders tend to take in average over 4+ days before shipping. Enough time to usually combine 3 or more orders in 1 package. And delivered by Amazon's own delivery truck.
Would you recommend a particular Beelink model?
I have been interested after seeing some reviews, but I'm not sure what would be the best deal.
Hence would greatly appreciate some recommendations.
At the moment this is what im seeing:
Just a little bit more! 🫡 🥳I am on Sync and there is still some screen space left on my device. 🤣
I wonder if there are information or anonymised statistics regarding the portion of elected representatives, senators and members of the judiciary from municipal, provincial and federal bodies/institutions that own more than a property (principal residence).
How many properties? What type of properties (from residential single family to high rise residential appartments/condominium, from empty/rundown/abandoned farmhouses/buildings to unused farm/land, etc…) What purpose do they have for those properties? Do those properties generate some kind of revenue? If so, how much? How is the revenue generated?
While thinking about it, how much of all properties in Canada are tied up behind a corporate veil by companies/fondations/trusts and various legal entities? Are there statistics on that?
There are too many unknowns and legal protections behind those unknown to be able to make a clear picture of the housing crisis.
I don't want the scapegoat excuse of too much RED TAPE to build new housing or that IT'S THE IMMIGRANTS and the FOREIGN WORKERS or FOREIGN INVESTORS/SPECULATORS took all our housing. That's too easy of a excuse to avoid the real and difficult work of understanding this whole mess.
I want real data, not proxy data. Full information on every transfer of property; from whom to whom, by which financial institution, for exactly how much, timespan elapsed between transfer of ownership, who is the mortgage holder if a loan is involved, renovation details if there has been any, every inspection report and details should always be public and attached to the property for the life of the property as a historical snapshot of the property, etc…
It's not that hard to implement these data gathering services but there are always deeply vested interests that would do everything in their power to discourage such endeavors and make up any excuse to avoid providing it.
Anyways, sorry this became a long rambling rant on my part.
These online password manager services are all half-baked scams that get away scot-free in any event of a breach (whichever the ones they just cannot silently hide away).
Only when/if they offer a minimum compensation backed by third party reputable Surety Insurance of at least US$5000 for every single breach for each compromised password/key/wallet/service for each effected customers would I even consider take a gander at their “unbreakable/unhackable” password manager service.
Until such a day arrives, I will continue to use FIDO2 hardware keys (Yubikey), asymmetric certificate pairs (gpg2, SSH, TLS, etc…) and the good old remember all my darn long passwords in my brain for symmetric ciphers (rjindael, serpent, chacha20, etc…) with the added help of Argon2id whenever implemented/available.
I sure hope companies becomes financially liable and accountable for all their privacy/security breaches unlike the last few decades of no consequence or just getting away with a negotiable fine.
With more and more people affected directly or indirectly by (flash) floods, forest fires and irregular droughts, no amount of “advertising” and “public relation” will assuage mobs of angry/desperate/displaced individuals from seeking irrational forms of justice that could never reasonably make their life whole again for all that was lost.
Moreover, we will enter (have already) a period whereas politicians will find it more and more acceptable to misdirect our woes/anger toward, at first, individuals/groups/corporations/countries unrelated to the causes of climate change as convenient scapegoat. Eventually as things progress (as in decline/worsen/degenerate), they will ultimately find themselves only viably electable by repudiating anyone/anything directly or even barely related to the fossil fuel industry.
Advertising / lobbying is one of their last attempt to avoid accountability.
Nevertheless, advertising and lobbying will never decrease the many real/visible/lived/experienced consequences of climate change.
Hmm…
Looking at just the title I was expecting something else entirely.
In that case, what would you consider to be a suitable “timing” then?
Is it just after a victim (children/teenagers/men/women/anyone) was verbally/physically assaulted? Within an hour? Within 24/48/72 hours? A week? A month? A year?
When is the appropriate inconvenient (in contrast to your “too convenient”) time for you?
Whether the victim feels safe or not, ready or not, supported or not, free of any retaliation or not, when is it too late for a victim to speak out or tell their story? Is 2 years already too much? How about 5 years, 10 years or 20 years?
