  • All ships relevant to this discussion are required to have an AIS transmitter and destination is one of the pieces of data they transmit. This is like asking "how do you know where that plane passing overhead is going?" to someone who has flightradar24 open.

  • Could shove it in a folder and then make the tap action open the first item in the folder, then set the folder icon to whatever your want. Disadvantage is that if it's already in a folder you can't do that because it would require nested folders

  • For when the text you want to replace is exactly as long as the text you want to replace it with? Wouldn't you have to toggle it mid typing otherwise? Seems more useful to just shift+ctrl+right arrow and then type.

  • For me it's a matter of practicality. I wouldn't pay if I didn't feel I had to. It's easy to block ads on PC, sure. Other devices, less so. I could get a Pihole or similar but then iirc you have to basically be playing cat and mouse with Google ad domains and that just sounds like a headache.

  • Europeans talk a lot of smack for a continent that is rapidly approaching fascism at more or less the same rate as America, if a little slightly behind. Maybe y'all could fix it if you got over yourselves.

    P.S. I'm not American.

  • on Windows you can typically expect to plug in a device and have the basic functions work, have to download a driver to have full functionality, and that's a pretty consistent experience. On Linux, it's hit or miss. Sometimes you plug it in and get full functionality, sometimes you get basic functionality and there is a way to gain full functionality, sometimes there isn't, sometimes you plug it in and it doesn't work and there is a way to get it to work, and sometimes there isn't a way to get it to work short of making the drivers yourself.

On average i would say the end result between the two is comparable if slightly favouring windows
