  • Double check prices first. I moved from Canada to the Euro and all electronics are about 20% more expensive here (when converting the currency). Including from the companies website (Google, Microsoft, Apple) so it's not just a third party raising prices issue.

  • Google also can’t:

Share app revenue “with any person or entity that distributes Android apps” or plans to launch an app store or app platform Offer developers money or perks to launch their apps on the Play Store exclusively or first Offer developers money or perks not to launch their apps on rival stores

So basically, hand Apple a monopoly over the smartphone duopoly. Apple still will be allowed to do this, and they have done this already in the past. Wow, way to make sure the free market stays free.

Worst part is, because this is a government made monopoly, Apple can't be taken to court for monopoly behavior. Apple didn't do anything here to make this happen, but will laugh all the way to the bank for it.

  • Seems crazy that Google is forced to open up when Android is already kind of open but Apple get away with keeping iOS very closed

Offer developers money or perks to launch their apps on the Play Store exclusively or first

Not only that, but Apple is still allowed to offer developers money/perks for exclusively as well but Google can't. This reads more like a pro-Apple wish list.

  • For the first part, you pretty much did imply it was a government thing in your post I replied to.

As for someone like Mohyeddin release a video like that with her credit on the line, sure she would. People have done this in the past for the right amount. Think doctors that promote cigarettes, petrol backed scientists that deny harms, Bernie Madoff (before he started the Ponzi scheme), Rudy Giuliani was a large and respected lawyer at one point that in the 80s took on the Five Families mafias in New York. I could keep this list going. And conspiracy theories are big business right now, some people would put their reputation on the line for a huge payout.

This feels less real (as no one of either side of politics has even attempted to touch on this) and more like Alex Jones level of reporting.

Now, yes, I could be wrong, but it just doesn't pass the feel test for me. More clickbaity and with trigger words to get even more attention.

  • So let me get this straight.

This is claiming that the Liberal government got ahold of the Ottawa police (not the RCMP, and ran by an independent politician, not a Liberal) to go to Niagara (almost 6 hours drive away) to talk to this person about their social media posts. And only this person seems to know anything about it, no other news channel, Liberal or Conservative.

And it's been already three days and still only they are mentioning about it...

  • It's only a link to a YouTube video because it's the only place it exists. Which should raise some serious warning bells. No Liberal or Conservative news outlet has anything about this.

I'm not saying it's fake, but it's only on this one site, by this one person, who supposedly has a huge history in news media who wouldn't have a hard time getting it into any other news channel (even ones that could link to her) seems... Odd. But hey, don't forget to join her Patreon page.

  • This is why I buy my TVs from Costco. If it needs internet at any point, return. It's a TV, it shouldn't need internet at any point.

  • A slave doesn't dream to be free, but to be a king

  • WotC never cared much about the novel and stories part of their IPs. You could tell from the MtG lore that it always was a distant second.

Forgotten Realms was amazing in the 80s and 90s, but that was when it wasn't bought out by WotC and still a part of TSR. Now that it's part of WitC (Hasbro), all of the lore is not cared much about in all their IPs.

  • Because emulation is legal. It shouldn't have to be hidden. This was taken through the courts in 2001 with the Sony vs Bleem lawsuit.

What appears to be happening is Nintendo is abusing its power and money to make threats of legal action that these groups just can't afford to fight, even though they haven't done anything illegal. It should be coming as a surprise that Nintendo is coming for them, because this is completely legal, and not some fan game using Nintendo IP (which is what they normally shut down).

  • Welcome to nutritional science. This is common with just about everything in it.

When I had to take a course on it, this was quickly pointed out by the professor, with an egg as the example. Some years it's the best thing you can eat, others it's the worst.

  • Yeah, but they were just a bunch of Monkees

  • I think music staring going downhill when music was no longer an audio only thing. Once bands were expected to make videos, posters, and "act" on stage, suddenly a lot of musicians had problems getting into the business. They want to make music, not become pseudo-actors.

  • What's happened is GTA Online suddenly switched to using BattlEye for it's anti-cheating. And this broke Steam Deck compatibility suddenly. Now, this is bad enough but reports state that BattlEye will work with the Steam Deck, and all Rockstar needs to do is just send a message to BattlEye and it'll just work. But Rockstar doesn't seem to be interested in sending that email.

  • That would be a part of Telsa, as it calls out Musk's actions there.
