  • I had a fantastic idea for a pair of D&D characters.

See, the two of them were originally Oath Of Conquest Paladins, but even though their boss is kind of hardass neither of them were ever that devout.

One of them would rather be an Artificer, and spends most of her time building gadgets.

The other, he would rather be a Ranger, spends all his time talking to his animal companion (who isn't a Raven but uses Raven rules so he speaks one language... but he's actually a cat).

Despite being the Ranger's animal companion, the cat would also rather spend his time tinkering...

But they still recite their oath at the start of every major fight.

"To protect the world from devastation..."

  • Thinking back on that series, I'm still kind of amazed at what we witnessed with S8. Not the season itself, obviously, but the phenomenon of it.

GoT was a huge fandom. Everybody was talking about it, for years. People were fuckin' naming their kids after those characters.

And then S8 happened and the whole thing was just gone. That entire enormous fandom erased more or less overnight. A moment of confused outage and then... silence.

I've never seen or heard of anything like it.

  • I literally wish I had the ability to practice.

That's really what all my other answers to this come down to. I would love to write better, be a better woodworker, play music, learn languages, learn programming languages, etc. But my mind just... slides right off it. I can't bring myself to put in the time necessary to cultivate literally any skill.

  • Don't take it too seriously. Remember that you owe your employer not one goddamn thing more than what you're being paid for, and they will not pay you one goddamn cent more than they absolutely must. Their bullshit stops being your problem the second you clock out; leave the stress behind, too.

They do not value you as a person, so you should not value them as anything more than a means to an end. There's no such thing as a single-company career anymore. They can and will fire you without notice or consideration, so feel no guilt about leaving them the instant a better job comes along.

  • It's a perfect illustration, really.

Remove the Students and parents and teachers can have their authoritarian circlejerk without hurting anyone.

Remove the Parents and maybe Students can actually have a direct voice in things that affect them without the meddling of people not involved in the system.

Remove the Teachers and... well, the same really. Facilitated self-directed learning without stifling bureaucracy and exposure to bullying is the best of all worlds.

  • Jumping spiders and those big anime eyes.

Edit: One time, I was at my in-laws' house and there was this bigass fly none of us could swat. Little shit legit dodged a fly swatter. But I spotted a zebra jumping spider hanging out in the window. So I ended up herding annoying!fly into that window, and suddenly BAM. Spider fren got a meal the size of herself, and we had no more annoying fly. Teamwork.
