  • I used to have a problem with jehovas witnesses waking me up regularly because I kept a night schedule. Like, every week or two, I'd be woken up in the middle of my sleep cycle by them.

Politely informed them I was solidly not religious, nor did I have any interest in religion at all.

    They came back.

Asked them to remove me from their circuit.

    They came back.

Started getting mildly rude, cutting them off and asking them to not knock on my door again.

    They came back.

I answered the door in nothing but boxers and told them I don't care about their zombie Jesus.

Sweet uninterrupted sleep from then on.

  • Yes, that's the point.

If he falsified his permanent residence so that he could side step a (admittedly stupid) rule that state electors votes don't count if both the president and vice president candidates are from their state, then he falsified his application for nothing, since he has no chance of winning CA in the first place.

  • Nah fam, here in Cali, you get charged extra for solar.

You're charged a monthly fee to be able to sell your excess energy back to the grid. But you can't opt out and disconnect from the grid, because CA regulations require all homes to be connected to the grid (probably for emergencies).

And pay pennies on the dollar for your excess energy.

I've heard that in fees alone, you still end up paying around $100/mo even if you're breaking even on energy (excess sold during the day >= grid consumption at night).

Ohh, and it's $0.53 / KwH during peak hours. Off-peak is $0.50, saving you a whopping 3 cents per kwh!

And then there's super off peak at around $0.22 which is like 10pm-5am (might be off by an hour or two), which is only good to do like one load of laundry before bed, and charge an EV over night.

  • Thanks for the summary! Very easy to follow.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but wouldn't diluting the runoff with more than 1:50 ratio with fresh water fix this problem? If it's joining a large body of water down the line, wouldn't that effectively negate the problem?

I don't know anything about the area or it's ecosystem. But it seems like being close to protected wilderness is kind of a prerequisite for this kind of thing, because you can't have human inhabitants nearby. And it seems that logically, large swaths of unoccupied land would be zoned as such until there was a need for some kind of development.

  • So it's more like she threw her hat in the ring to be HOA president, and either no one else ran, or her family name was enough to take it.

Still, Mayor's do have power to fuck things up if they want. Seems kind of crazy to let a 21 year old take the reigns.

  • That doesn't answer anything.

My question is why his state of residency matters when trying to be on the presidential ballot. Obviously, he could run for president from CA too.

So why falsify his permanent address? Why does it matter?

  • That's a big capybara....

    Jump
  • I have an oddly relevant story.

My wife and I got to do a "swimming with a capybara" experience. My wife forgot about the instructions to not wear anything dangly because the capybara may play with it.

Well, she wore a bikini top that had a big bow in the front.

That capybara motorboated my wife like he was Vince Vaughn after a dry spell.

I just turned to the other (horrified) guests, shrugged, and said I didn't blame him.

  • So you're upset that this little bot is correctly configured to ignore a link aggregate site because the bot doesn't yet have nested links implemented?

I guess b better argument is, why have the bot post a comment at all. Or maybe it's the Media Bias api that's just giving back a negative and the bot doesn't know it's due to the source being a link aggregate.

  • I mean, Ukraine does not have the ability to hold anything or do a sustained push. It would be foolish to try.

Going in, destroying supplies and infrastructure, and then leaving is the smart move unless there are good choke points to hold.

  • I only have had one coworker that didn't do this stupid incrementation thing (some salt with a bit more than a number based on some logic).

He was the guy that would take a minute or two every time he needed to unlock his computer to open his password manager on his phone and slowly type out a long and difficult to type random password that he could never memorize due to the frequency we had to change passwords.

So many delays during conversations / meetings with this guy.

  • I wish more people paid attention to snakeoil history. So many people today reject modern medicine in favor of holistic medicine that hasn't gone through double blind studies.

Instead, you have soccer moms shoving things in their prison wallet because Gwyneth Paltrow tells them to. Or whatever the fuck Alex Jones and Joe Rogan pedal peddle to toxic masculinity cucks.
