  • I've had very similar dreams, especially the part about constantly fake-waking up. One method I've found to work is to shut my eyes then open them in a kinda exaggerated / forceful way to wake myself up.

Always have a book by your bed and grab it, because you can't read when you're asleep. If you read one paragraph and then go back and re-read it, it will be different each time when you're dreaming

  • The old cat died (or at least, didn't come back one morning) and the new kittens are replacing him. That's just how it is. I've lived my whole life with usually two dogs and two cats, as well as anywhere between five and thirty poultry. I must've went through 100 animals by now, at least 15 of whom were close pets... You get used to it. He was getting old, so I like to think he went and curled up somewhere warm to die rather than anything else happening to him. We did the best we could when he was alive and he seemed to genuinely enjoy living with us, so what more could we ask for in a pet?

  • Cats can be trained, just maybe not in the same ways. We've got a pair of new kittens that like jumping on the table. Kittens are not allowed on the table, so I push them off. To begin with, they really fought against being pushed off the table (understandable) and tried to stay on as long as possible. After a couple of weeks though, they just let themselves get pushed off. Our old cat (who the kittens are replacing) used to jump off as soon as I walked towards him or even verbally asked him to get down.

I'm also training the kittens to be parrot cats sitting on my shoulder. We'll see how much I regret that when they're fully grown...

  • Guess what, I don't like billionaires in any country. But this article was specifically about Russia so that's what I commented on. For completeness, I could add a list here of other things I don't like:

    • Russian billionaires
    • American billionaires
    • People who change the topic to "USA bad" for seemingly no reason
    • Cooked fruits (with a few exceptions)
    • Airports
    • Being ignored by my friends
    • Hitting an elbow or knee very lightly on something but it casting a disproportionate amount of pain

  • As long as those two people are making money, it's worth any amount of suffering and death for Russians, Ukrainians and everyone else that gets caught up in the war 😀

  • Revelation Space is great! It's interstellar sci-fi with no faster-than-light travel which leads to some really interesting timelines. Also, the only description I've ever read of a space battle as ships are travelling at relativistic speeds. Very cool books. Diamond Dogs is a short-ish story that gives you the feel of the universe. It's a bit nasty at times but I feel like it doesn't go into unnecessarily gruesome detail

  • I tend to say Wensleydale, Tuesleydale and Thursleydale as the days of the week. It started as a thing I said to myself because I found it funny, but occasionally I'll slip and say one of them out loud when I'm tired.

  • I found it to be so unbelievable that I gave up pretty quickly. The narrative at the time was that the science of the film was so realistic and I saw so much that was factually incorrect that I couldn't even focus on the film. I kept thinking, "that's wrong", pausing the film, getting out my phone to confirm it. I can't remember any specifics any more, but it still bugs me when I see people saying that it's scientifically sound
