Cute idea. But unfortunately not practical. For something as valuable/kg as cocaine, you can go to the trouble of using a narco sub. But there's zero chance such a sub could practically carry cheap bulky goods like flour, rice, etc.

You might be able to use them to smuggle in medicines though.

Somehow I doubt your sincerity. Most people who bring up women's rights when it comes to Muslims only bring up women's rights when Muslims are involved. Like conservatives who would happily defund every women's sports programs but use women's sports as a cudgel to hurt trans people.

It's really transparent and disingenuous, and you give off those same vibes.

Remember, law enforcement is directly responsible for almost all violence that coincides with protests. The cops will send the entire police force down to harass the protesters. Every pig is a psycho that deep down just wants to beat on some innocent people. So no cop wants to turn down a chance to beat down some peaceful protesters.

With all the cops attending the protest, the rest of the city is now undefended. Looters take advantage of this. Rob a store while all the cops are busy harassing protesters. Police love this as it gives more excuses to increase their budget.

Yet it muddies the water with Islamophobia.

The president could issue an executive order based on the Insurrection Act of 1807, codified in Title 10 of the U.S. Code under sections 332 to 334 (since renumbered as 252 to 254). Section 332, regarding the “use of militia and armed forces to enforce Federal authority,”

Trump hasn't invoked the Insurrection Act. He is explicitly in violation of federal law here. The act that he used to activate these troops doesn't allow the president to take authority of the guard away from the governor.

Trump IS violating the law. The president can't just activate the guard any time he damn well feels like it. There are specific conditions that are required, and Trump is flagrantly violating them.

The problem is Democrats are cowards. Newsom has so many options he's not even trying to use. For example, he could give his own contradicting orders to the California National Guard troops. After all, those would be the only legal orders given to the Guard. Trump is flagrantly violating the law here. If that didn't work, he could announce that he's putting any Guard troop deployed by Trump on immediate leave. They're now on vacation and can walk off base at will. If that doesn't work, he could defund the troops involved. You're not getting paid for your time following illegal orders.

Instead, Democrats are cowards, so they make tired cringe jokes about Tacos.

Voice mail still has uses. There are times you need to be able to receive calls from businesses or government entities. Often those entities don't have call centers set up to let their workes send texts. Sometimes the only way you can hear news you need to hear is via a phone call.

I mean, you can still live like that if you want to, for your whole life if you want to. Move into or start a housing co-op. Even kids don't get in the way of this. We're supposed to raise kids in a village. That's how children are meant to be raised.

It's not how human beings are supposed to live. We're supposed to have that close-knit friend community our entire lives. People had this up until only 100-200 years ago or so. People in little farming villages were able to have a stable friend group for their entire lives and have time to interact with them. Kids didn't serve as a substantial barrier, as the friend group helped raise the children. This is how children are supposed to be raised. It's supposed to take a village.

It's only our hyper capitalist economy that atomizes us and forces us to scatter to the winds, endlessly chasing job after job in far flung cities, never able to settle down and form real community anywhere.

The way we live is deeply unnatural and fundamentally at odds with human nature. It's no wonder we're all mentally ill.

You trust the cops. Why would you? They've been proven, just in the last five years, to have planted evidence on innocent people.

Set tax withholding to zero. Ie, set up your withholding so nothing is withheld. Have zero taken out of your paycheck by claiming a large number of deductions, or claim to be otherwise exempt from withholding. You can absolutely and legally do this. You can make it so that nothing is withheld from your paycheck. You'll just have quite a hefty tax bill due come tax time. In this case, Newsom would be telling California residents that the state will prevent the feds from ever coming to collect that bill.

Set their withholding to zero, not set their deductions to zero.

Ghandi's militant non-violence was blind to how actual historical justice movements succeed. It turns out that you actually need both violent and nonviolent resistance for any resistance to succeed. Sure, there was the Ghandi wing throwing the British out of India, but there was also a radical militant Hindu movement trying to throw the British out at gunpoint. The existence of this radical and violent side of the movement gave space for a nonviolent 'moderate' like Ghandi to come in and play the role of peacemaker. Without the violent resistance, the nonviolent resistance becomes branded as terrorists, and the state can come in and arrest/kill them all. It's only the existence of an actual violent wing that prevents the peaceful moderates from being labeled as violent extremists.

Or look at MLK. He was peaceful and nonviolent, and they still called him a terrorist. But his message resonated with middle America as it contrasted to the explicitly violent movements like the Black Panthers, Malcolm X, etc. And the powers that be still killed him for it, regardless of his nonviolence.

Sorry, I just take a really dim view to the nonviolence of Ghandi.
