There being more slaves now then ever is heavily disputed. There is also the fact that was little more than a billion people in the world when the trans-Atlantic slave trade stopped, so there would have to be 8 times as many for slavery to be as prevalent.
That really bad for a modern consumer economy yes. But those werent a thing before the industrial revolution. Before that the large majority of people were subsitance/tennant farmer or serfs who consumed basically nothing other than food and fuel in winter. Thats what a slave based economy was an alternantive to. Its also why slvery died out in the 19th century, it no longer fit the times.
The article is literally about the problem of ownership being too concentrated and wealth overruling people with knowledge of businesses. "Tech" here doesn't mean technology it means the big tech companies.
Has a game on steam ever been withdrawn from people who have bought it? I've certainly heard of cases where a game gets pulled from the store and people can no longer buy it, but never where already purchased things have been revoked.
In addition there are games on steam that you can just copy to make a backup of it and it will run fine (I know kerbal space program was like this for example). In those cases you have exactly the same amount of control as you would have for owning a disc, but with all the benefits of digital distribution.
They arent. For the NFT to do anything in a game it has to interact with the game in some way. The game gets to decide how it interacts with each NFT. So you are already using a central authority to change your NFT to something of value in the game, So why bother with the whole distributed trustless aspect of the blockchain and not just have a row in a database table?

The point is that google is no longer just listing search results. For years now it has been giving the "correct" answer as well as results. This started of with things it could recognise and easily solve like calculations ("what is 432 times 548"), but has now moved into general queries powered by LLMs that have no knowledge of fact.
It really isn't. You don't start doing properly original research until a year or two into a PhD. At best a masters project is going to be doing something like taking an existing model and applying it to an adjacent topic to the one it was designed for.
