There is no reason to think Russia's entire strategic nuclear arsenal is unusable. It's entirely possible a decent chunk of it is due to corruption and neglect, but even if 10% work that's still 160 city destroying nukes being detonated across Europe and North America if the world goes full MAD. That probably wouldn't wipe out humanity but it would lead to hundreds of millions of people dying. Not something to be taken lightly.

They might not make a profit, but Altman will be able to extract a lot of wealth by using 7% of a billions of dollars valuation. Even if he doesn't sell any he can use it as collateral against loans to effectively turn them into cash.

But there's nothing to stop a stalker just making another account to follow you if they really want to. I dont see blocking doing much good there as there is no such thing as being able to stop your public posts being viewed, because they're public.

I still think its a bad idea to remove blocking just becuase people want to remove things they dont want to see (like right wing billionaire arseholes) but I dont think giving people a false sense of security is a good reason against it.

Feel free to enlighten me (and others who've said the same) with your superior knowledge of how timestamps of ads stay constant when they are of different lengths.

Right but the swedish pampers ad and the walmart as will be different lengths so the timings wont be the same

It was, originally. GPT-2 was eventually released after some push back from openAI and the models prior to that were fully released immediately. Its been apparent for quite a while that OpenAI have been transitioning from a non-profit org interested in pushing technology forward to a VC backed monopoly-seeking company. The big Altman putsch/counter putsch was just the solidfying of that.

There actually has been good work on using AI to control fusion plasmas its at the point where it can keep them stable significantly better than any human or simple automated system.

India is doing what India has been doing since the early cold war: playing rival power blocks off against each other to try and get the best outcomes for themselves.

I dont think anyone here thinks that the ridiculous terms on current IP laws make sense (at least I havent seen anyone defending them), but there is a big difference between a short term of 5-10 years for you to get the earned benefits of an innovation you created and zero protection where a larger more well funded company can swoop in copy your invention and bury you in marketing so they get the reward.

Thats a great way to make companies spend 0 on r&d that has longterm benefits and instead focus on squeezing out every penny from current assets.

Nope, because Nintendo arent suing over copyright (like how the pals look) they are suing over patents, so either gameplay mechanics or under the hood processes. They are complete bullshit and involve things like a patent filed in 2024 for riding a mount in a game.

As others have pointed out patents in Japan expire after 20 years so it cant be anything that was in the original pokemon as that has already termed out.

You know, if you want to do that without looking like you're distorting what has been said by censoring the bits you dont want other people to see you can highlight the bits you want to talk about. That way other people can see the context and make their own decisions.
