  • The issue with hexbear isn’t Marxism or anarchism or communism, it’s apologism for violent authoritarian regimes to the point of insisting on an “alternative facts” version of “history”.

  • Buy physical media (CDs DVDs and Blu Rays) when possible and burn your own as backups when you get stuff digitally.

Set up a computer as a Linux-based server running 24/7 with Plex or Jellyfin or similar. Even most consumer tier motherboards these days can support many sata hard drives, and you can get ones that are 10Tb+ fairly inexpensively. Set them up in RAID of some form to avoid losing data.

It’s good to have a remote backup as well but that can be expensive and more complicated.

  • I still tip wait staff 20% I just don’t tip at the grocery store. The most egregious I’ve seen was a tip at a full self-service counter. Like who am I even tipping? The cash register?

  • You have to register "powerful" vehicles with the government and you need a license to drive them. Like your kid's Power Wheels car (cheap drone) doesn't need to be registered.

They guy you are responding to mentioned:

    1. Building drones under the 250 gram limit (analagous to building your own toy power wheels car that’s too small to be regulated)
    2. Building drones over the 250 gram limit and registering them and following the relevant rules (analagous in your example to having some sort of hobby project car and going through the proper channels to get it certified as street legal).

Seriously what’s wrong with someone having a hobby?

  • You could look at this: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gpd-win-4-2025-amd-apu-handheld-console

I have one of their older products and I’m happy with it. I’m considering this one.

Comes with Windows 11 but says it supports SteamOS. Should certainly run at least older games well. They say it’s 220x92x28 mm (7.87x3.62x1.1 in) which is a bit chonky for something I’d put it my pocket but not unmanageable.

  • What firmware are you using? I’ve tried a couple different ones. I think the biggest issue I encounter is the BL Touch measurements seem really off near the edges of the plate, which makes the mesh corrections over correct. I have found the mesh tool helps me manually level the plate better, which is my current workflow.

And that’s just the bed leveling. My extruder keeps clogging to the point that I have to pause the print to do a cold pull multiple times mid-print to get something bigger than about a cubic inch to print. I’m not sure what’s wrong with it. Maybe it’s crappy filament but I’m worried something else is going on.
