Im trans with over 10 years of experience in the industry

There's really not a lot to it. We just want a basic level of respect and empathy. Respect their chosen names and pronouns, and don't ask them random questions about being trans unless they're open to it. Trust them when/if they talk about their experiences, they know more about themselves than you do. Reassure them that their job is a safe space.
Happy to answer any questions.
Edit: if you slip up on name/pronouns, simply apologize, correct yourself, and move on. We know people aren't always trying to be malicious. Hell, my dad still slips up on my pronouns.
I fled the country, so it's been fascinating looking in from the outside while still having a stake vis-Γ -vis all the people I love back home.
On the inside, the people that matter are terrified. It's easy to tell someone to grab a rifle and "do something", but the average person is now more focused on their own immediate survival than anything else. People are losing access to life saving medicine, they're worried about catching a life threatening illness, and basic costs of living (rent, food, health, etc) are getting more expensive. Even privileged people are starting to feel the screws tightening. The US is a ticking time bomb and something is going to give at some point, but it's going to have to get significantly worse first.
On the outside, everyone understands why we fled. My new country has been so incredibly welcoming and sympathetic, with a hint of curiosity. I realized yesterday while I was reading about the Philly mass shooting that I've yet to hear of a single mass shooting where I am, and I immediately felt a sense of relief.
I don't really have control over it, I just take into account that about 40% of my net income is going to funding war and genocide. I wish there was a way to at least select what you were funding
Oh for sure, but in the few cases I've gone into a routine govt office here it's usually just a few guys at the front by reception.
In the US, they X-ray everything and question me about my (fairly mundane) fidget spinner like I'm carrying around a WMD on my keychain. I have to empty my purse and take out anything that a schizophrenic might consider suspicious.
Talking about politics is not taboo. People are not allowed to cover their ears any more.
