  • These kind of posts always have weird ones like Poison Breath.

Why would I want that? To kill people? Mustard gas is easy to make and I'd just get arrested anyways.

The only reasonable use I can think of is if you wanted to start a pest control company... woo?

Instant death may be useful if it's like the Death Note, or else you'd also just get arrested.

  • Some of these issues would probably be avoided if the server enforced using the threads feature for topics and conversations, but at that point you might as well just use reddit (or lemmy).

  • I feel like I'd use Allman for large blocks of code (though in those situations it's probably better to stick the code in a function first) and I'd use K&R for 1 or 2 lines of code (like calling a function).

  • On the flipside, if the language is too casual you'd end up with people winning cases by being popular and snarky.

Part of the reason why Trump's cases have such a high turnover of lawyers. His antics just don't amuse a judge used to professionalism.

Not saying you don't have a point. After stuff like bees being classified as fish in California to protect them. It's clear to see legalese has gone to far.

  • The way I've come to understand it is that LLMs are intelligent in the same way your subconscious is intelligent.

It works off of kneejerk "this feels right" logic, that's why images look like dreams, realistic until you examine further.

We all have a kneejerk responses to situations and questions, but the difference is we filter that through our conscious mind, to apply long-term thinking and our own choices into the mix.

LLMs just keep getting better at the "this feels right" stage, which is why completely novel or niche situations can still trip it up; because it hasn't developed enough "reflexes" for that problem yet.

  • True for creating voices at all, but that work has already been done.

Now we're just taking these large AI's trained to mimic voices and giving them a 30 second audio clip to tell them what to mimic. It can be done quickly and give convincing results especially when hidden by the phonecall quality.

  • No worries, I get it, it's so much easier to blame the individual rather than accept that everything will get worse and worse due to powerful people and corporations.

Ultimately we should remember not to lower our standards, because if we're being honest, companies don't care about making ends meet, they care about growth. So a sustainable business that's done growing just isn't enough for them.

After all, if we excuse these ads in categories, Google might treat that as the go ahead to place ads in general inbox too, or remove the option to get rid if ads. If you give them an inch they will take a mile. But I sincerely get your frustration.

  • This isn't about having ads (though that still sucks) this is about again, company endorsed malware.

If they're gonna shove ads in email, they need to have the quality control to not have misleading and harmful ads placed in there. Again, think of this as the charged lemonade situation, just because the user can technically avoid the risk, doesn't mean they're exempt from reducing the danger they put their users in.

  • I live here, personally the simplicity is growing on me, at least they didn't change the colors to be bright and obnoxious like some of the other variations of it proprosed.

The simple two blues and white feels cozy, the tricolor feels like it'd be an amazing country flag, but for a state I feel the simplicity is a benefit.
