  • Bud Light tanked. It was the number 1 beer in its category up until that decision - a title it had held for 20 years. It isn't now.

Their vice president responsible for it was removed.

They lost marketshare across the board.

Their american sales have not recovered.

Bill Gates threw $100 million at their stock in an effort to get it to go back up. Remember - Bud Light is not their whole company. Bud Light has likely been irrevocably harmed. Other beer brands have gained market share, Bud Light lost the number 1 spot it had held for 20 years. Share price isn't everything when it's a worldwide brand.

  • Those people who are triggered by the word “inclusiveness”

No one is "triggered" 🙄. It's just a term that's used by the DEI/ESG squad that basically gives them a free defense squad when they use it to do a stupid thing.

Those of us who are rational will recognise it for what it is; Spin to justify a decision based on maximising profit.

You're not disagreeing with me. The problem is that what the DEI/ESG squad think will maximise profit - pandering to the minorities - usually backfires massively. Those of us who are rational know that pandering to the minority isn't smart because you put off the majority.

  • Install the *arr programs that you want to manage your libraries - Radarr (for movies), Sonarr (for tv shows), Lidarr (for music)

Install NZBGet (for downloading the files)

Sign up to a usenet provider.

Sign up to an indexer like NZBGeek, NZBFinder, etc.

Put your usenet provider details in to NZBGet under the News-Server section.

Put your indexer details into the indexer settings in *arr programs.

Put your NZBGet details into the Download Clients setting section in *arr programs.

Pretty much the gist of it. Then you can just search for and add the content you're after in Radarr/Sonarr/Lidarr and it will go looking.

If you need a hand I'm happy to help.

  • They do. Almost everything gets DMCA'd within hours of being uploaded. What happens is they just get uploaded again and again, on different backbones and servers, and you end up getting the complete thing from multiple sources or as soon as it gets uploaded but before it gets DMCAd.

  • Yes, they do because companies are judged and scored on ridiculous stuff like that, and companies are more and more trying to pander to these ideologies. Example: Bud Light, Target (US), and now Kmart here specifically saying that they are removing Australia day merchandise to be more "inclusive", not due to declining sales.

  • Woolies would keep the crap if people bought it. I’m unconvinced they would drop the range if it were making them buckets of money.

Nah, it's just more DEI-led stuff where they're trying to pander to the vocal minority to score points, like Bud Light and Target did in America, where it backfired massively. Make no mistake, they're dropping it for "inclusivity" like Kmart did, not because it doesn't make money. They even mentioned this in their statement:

There has been a gradual decline in demand for Australia Day merchandise from our stores over recent years. At the same time there’s been broader discussion about 26 January and what it means to different parts of the community,"

It'll be back next year when they fuck around and find out this year. Keep politics and pandering out of grocery stores. Didn't ever think I'd have to say that lol. It's ridiculous.

  • This isn't the market deciding, this is pandering. Kmart literally said they're stopping it due to "inclusivity", and Woolworths even said that too:

    https://au.news.yahoo.com/woolworths-follows-kmart-with-major-australia-day-decision-041153633.html

"There has been a gradual decline in demand for Australia Day merchandise from our stores over recent years. At the same time there’s been broader discussion about 26 January and what it means to different parts of the community,"

Making up the former to enforce the latter.

  • It will require design changes, but there are already plenty of options to make it happen.

Nah, there's basically no design changes needed. Pretty much everyone already complies with the new EU laws. People seem to think the new laws mean you'll just be unclipping the back of your phone and chucking a new battery in like in the nokia days lol. All it means is that you won't need proprietary tools to open your phone. You'll still need to disassemble the phone as usual. Basically nothing changes for the big OEMs already. It's not going to make replacing your battery on your own any easier.

  • You're not going to be able to do that lol. The only thing that's changing is that you will only require tools that the average person wanting to do the job will already have in order to take your phone apart. No proprietary screws etc. The EU law basically changed nothing of any real meaning.

  • OP hadn't specified that they have an OLED model when I posted this.

Generally if you’re switching HDR on and off and it’s not making any difference, you don’t have an HDR display.
