Sure, but these are loans owed by a country to another country, so as long as the terms aren't too crippling, I personally see this as better than the alternative.

When the term leaves the original use, and those using it are referring to something distinctly different, isn't this just natural evolution of language? English uses tonnes of words from French which are quite disconnected from the original use of the word

I'm not sure how to do the cost/benefit analysis on this one. If it keeps the shipping lanes open, and avoids costs on pretty much everything going up, £30m might be quite cheap.

Why do they need to ask? I ask as in the UK we all get our power from "the grid", and don't have much say over what the energy mix is there.
