Curious if anyone here is still finding a need for X network in their day to day lives?

I was never big on Twitter so had no trouble leaving when Elon bought.

As I understand it the third parties could be funded better just from RCV because they would likely receive a higher percentage of the vote once the spoiler effect is no longer in place from FPTP. If they get more than 5% they get some funding and I think it scales up with percentage. Source from quick google, might be out of date.

USA democracy is frustrating. The 2 parties have spent close to 100 years entrenching themselves at this point. People who want to dig them out need to understand how they are holding on. This competition in politics paper outlines a few of the changes they've made to consolidate power. Things like party primaries, co-opting communication about elections, restructuring campaign finance law, etc.

Really I am not even talking about voters when I am talking about power, I am talking about funding.

The duopoly grants the 2 parties extra funding that third parties can't access. This prevents real third party candidates from running unless they are already billionaire-connected. It saves the billionaires the trouble of trying to buy many parties. They can just buy the 2. So Dems and Republicans have safe sources of funding / power that can't be challenged by more competent representatives.

I think dems and republicans both correctly see their representatives as 'bought' to some extent and want real alternatives.

Remember: Democrats are just as dependent on FPTP for power as republicans

Not who you responded to but states can use ranked choice voting instead of stupid first past the post, you just need to pass the laws. Some states already do.

People need to think outside the current system, its absolutely rigged to create exactly this predicament we're in: no real political competition making it easy for the rich to buy the 2 remaining parties and essentially give you a bad and worse choice.

Why do people get hung up on academia when it's statically likely you will make more money than women doing the same work?

'The thing that gives grades that don't ultimately matter may be treating women better, we must fix it now!' But you're utterly silent about the pay gap, the all male presidential line up, the mostly male scotus, the mostly male ceo and government makeup.

To me it feels like such a bullshit argument? Why does it resonate? Is it just that these guys are super young and basically don't get that previous generation of women were sexually harassed out of all the profitable professions, so now academia is trying to backfill?

Would this filter remove anything that could considered political, including news about things like climate change? news about worker strikes? news about product boycotts? news about drag show protests? news in general?

Would this filter remove anything that 'becomes' political, like Barbie/Oppenheimer, Disney, Rage Against the Machine, Dixie Chicks, Bud Light? Or would it go further and consider all media an expression of a political viewpoint and ban all discussion of entertainment media?

Did you read any of the linked announcements and is that what you honestly got out of it? Or are you trolling?

I read them and it states pretty clearly that admins tried to contact rammy admins and were unsuccessful, therefore the unmoderated label was correct, therefore remaining federated does open up the admins of our server to illegal child porn.

I'm assuming you're not going to show up to defend the admin from legal charges with any useful help, so I'd say the admin is justified in prioritizing their opinion over yours (in this case)

This will continue to be the reality of making your home on someone elses's hardware. If you want to federate with every unmoderated instance out there, MAKE YOUR OWN - and enjoy the legal fees.
