  • I'm from the UK and went to visit my family in America for a few months when I was 20. They were nice people (to me), however I'll always remember how they spoke about others and how they would make fun of the homeless, or talk about people behind their backs.

I was always so shocked because I had never been around a group of people like this, and they were so nice to me, hearing them speak like that has stayed with me more than any of the positive memories I have.

  • I bought a raspberry pi, a SATA SSD and usb adaptor, and installed Plex now I'm the new netflix for my family, they send me movies and shows they want to watch and I put them on there, then they connect to my server and watch

    It's been really good

  • Use yts.mx, if you use any other site, try checking comments first if they have them, if not you can use torrent file viewer to check the download is actually a video file before downloading

Lastly you could try anti virus, but don't rely on it to do your job for you, they can catch most but not always all viruses

  • Yeah but to see actual signs of life on those planets we'd need to either be able to see clear images of the surface, or have some way (other than the light method we use ATM) to detect microscopic lifeforms, right?

I'm just asking to try understand better, the only mention I've heard of life on other planets have been from chemicals produced by life detected in the light that passes through the planets' atmosphere, but I wouldn't say that is definitive proof

  • This might be really obvious, but I've never heard anyone mention it specifically - it's well known that light takes time to reach us, so when we look at far away objects, we are also looking back in time - surely this has a huge impact on detecting life?

If we were able to see what planets that could support life look like as they are currently, then perhaps we would see life?

  • I cancelled Netflix a few months ago, I still pay for Disney+ and my bro pays for Paramount+, and we share those with each other

I ended up also installing Plex on my rapsberry pi and going back to pirating.
