It's come and gone throughout the millennia, like certain pieces of knowledge. Eratosthenes very accurately calculated the circumference of the world in Ptolemaic Egypt and later on people thought the Earth was flat (and some morons still do). As for capitalism, look at prehistoric societies using shells as currency. What is that currency for?
Extinction Rebellion is just more noise, to make its supporters feel like they're doing something while they're in fact entirely counterproductive. Similar to PETA. There are better organisations to support, who are working hard on these important causes.
Nobody else is saying this, so I will. I'm sceptical of this figure. Recognising that spousal rape is rape, it's very hard to believe this number. "Rape-related" is very vague. It could mean women who have been raped before, who later become pregnant consensually. Pregnancies due to rape are simply not this common.
They can be pretty funny though. I saw one that said "LEPROSY IS COMPLETLY CURRBAL" and underneath there was a bit of space left so they drew a crude map of the T-junction nearby with names of where each street goes.
They're more powerful and influential than you think - they're not going anywhere. They might change their policies to suit the times (remember Lincoln was a Republican) but the so-called "Grand Old Party" ain't going nowhere unfortunately.
It's not "Capitalism", it's governments not doing their job in regulating capitalist practices, and instead embracing neoliberal economics. I don't accept that all ownership is theft. Trade in goods and services benefits both parties. I am so sick of people using this shorthand word "capitalism" to describe what's going on here. We've had capitalism for millennia, and it's brought us longer, healthier and happier lives, and reduced warfare. It's Thatcherite/Reaganomic practices by governments that are the problem, not the system of ownership of capital.
His name is Mammon.
