  • Minus 5 points for having the wrong World Trade Center in frame. Plus 69 points for big swangin’ Bills.

  • Yeah, the bargain bin whirlpool my apartment grudgingly provides does not perform the same. Convincing them to shell out $800 or even to let me do so would be like convincing DOGE to fund universal healthcare—impossible.

  • And the pay?

  • Democrat states obvious in diplomatic language and nothing substantially changes. Story of the decade.

  • I’m doing none of those things, I just think it is plausible that he was hanging out with some swingers and accidentally got a woman pregnant in a time when abortion was less common. I also don’t think that it is likely that the daughter has the power to edit the articles about this event, so they can use whatever word they want.

  • Well…yeah. The point of seeding forever is that you are uploading. Though I am not familiar with TheGeeks specifically, I imagine that rule is in place to keep people from setting a low bandwidth limit on their client and exploiting bonus points for free downloads.

Regardless, you are talking about a sample size of one. Most reputable private trackers have a required ratio that increases with the amount of data you’ve downloaded, eventually hitting 1/1 when you have downloaded enough content to be expected to be a good seeder.

  • Why do you doubt that? It seems to be pretty in line with the promiscuous behavior of his social circle at the time.

  • We don’t really know if the friend was ok with it or not.

  • That honestly just sounds like a bad site. Others are far more active than that.

  • I’m with you on this one. Lemmy has some bipolar opinions when it comes to cops. Definitely glad that January 6th failed, but we don’t need an ounce more hero worship for law enforcement. Their violence against the citizenry cancels out their credit for good deeds.

  • I can like them too, but I’m not going to do them any additional favors. It’s part of the cosmic balance.

  • That is simply not true. I’m a member of many private torrent sites, and the key is to simply seed all of your content for as long as you have it in your collection.

Freeleech events allow you to build a large library of content that you expended no credit to download, but will get credit for uploading. Most sites have some kind of bonus point system for seeding content long term, and those points can often be used to buy more credit.

At this point, I have so much credit building up on a regular basis that I like to put terabytes worth of it towards requests just to spread the love around. I have managed all of this through simply perma-seeding everything with a computer that is on 24/7. My current internet speed isn’t even stellar, but the sheer size of my seeded content gets the job done. I tend to be actively uploading multiple things every second of the day now.

  • Republicans: Our values are for Americans only! Those immigrants may prefer to deal with us afterwards, but we real Americans prefer to deal with Americans only! The only method for world domination that Americans need is American weapons and American boots on the ground until the only people left alive are Americans only!!!

  • I would like to offer myself as the spider in that experiment.

  • Your information comes from the news, my information comes from personal experience of crossing the border several times per week and seeing it with my own eyes. Which one of us has the primary source?

  • I never said the word victim, but since you brought it up, 50% of the US are victims to this. A large number of us were actively fighting against this outcome and lost. We have been deciding what to do next, and many educated people are in the process of leaving the country. Those without that ability are stuck to suffer under the current conditions.

  • I’m not even going to address the first and third points because we simply disagree, but you missed what I was describing about the border.

It isn’t more secure, it is less efficient. They aren’t doing a more thorough check, they are checking exactly the same documents twice, and the first time they aren’t even scanning them to see if they are legitimate. They simply stop you and look at them which creates a bottleneck in the line and causes understaffing at the real checkpoint two minutes further down the walkway.

This understaffing has actually caused them to not have enough people in the checkpoint building to man the x-ray machines, so it is arguably less secure than it was before. If I cross at night now, I no longer even get my bag scanned, which used to be standard procedure during the previous administration.
