In Canada we have similar issues in they want to bring in immigrants (many on student visas) by 100s of thousands which in turn sees them blamed for the housing affordability crisis when they really are brought in to help prop up not only the universities with higher enrollment fees but also to prop up employers that want workers at minimum or lower wages. It's an added bonus that they need to rent rooms from politician landlords.
There's definitely an issue with the impending shortage of younger population to support the aging population which is also why they're bringing immigrants in for, but it's also maintaining artificially low wages that normal market conditions would not ever see filled unless wages were increased.
In the meantime like in the US there is this low wage economic class of non citizens abused for cheap labor.
He's posted a bunch of stuff there I've noticed. That's a big interesting difference from the forums of old and Reddit, there's no ability to actually control this site wide when it's a bunch of sites strung together.
This seems to match up with a recent Republican talking head saying Democrat women start their day with an abortion, then their coffee, and then other errands...
I hated cable/sat TV for this packaging but now with over 15 years since I cut the cord I wonder if they had the technology back then to piece meal out the channels to every single subscriber?
I'm not letting them off the hook for purposely packaging 1 good channel with 5 turd channels and then repeating this with the remaining good channels but I do wonder if there were any technical limits to how the channels were sold?
It's interesting how quickly that changed for Twitter. I was watching the Revenge of the Electric Car and Googling the people in the movie. At the time of the movie Tesla was struggling to get the Roadster out the door and about the launch the S model. Elon was married for the first time to Talulah Riley with 5 kids at that stage. I found this quote interesting from her Wikipedia page:
During Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter in October 2022, text exchanges between Musk and Riley were released where she pleaded with him to buy the social media site, asking "Please do something to fight woke-ism. I will do anything to help! xx"
I sort of understand the downvotes here but also don't at the same time. Southern Democrats can be a bit of a surprise to newer generations not steeped in US history of the southern Dixiecrats and the southern block they use to rule with until they finally broke up and switched to the Republicans.
The comment above is sticking with Conservatives and Progressive which today most would equate to Republicans and Democrats respectively within the US.
I recall early on reports that said domestic theaters were sold out online but empty in person in the opening weeks. I don't think I heard too much more than that on what was going on beyond baiting the early numbers to convince many this was a big hit.
Still 250M worldwide seems pretty impressive for a Qanon hyped up piece with the inspiration of the project being accused of sexual misconduct by 5 women and accusations of sexual groping of child trafficking victims in the process. But it turns out he had a Mexican judge state one of the victims was over 18 so the groping was a non issue? He was also resigned from the foundation he setup due to other issues.
Then one of the backers of the movie being accused of felony child kidnapping which was recently dropped I see due to a misunderstanding of the victim's families?
Amazing this movie got out of the gate with these issues. I do recall the theme being early on being if you didn't support this project you were a child abuser so it turns out that had a pretty big impact?
Yes back when they were pretty expensive still for a 20 year old. It was a old 386 DX with 1mb of Ram without the co-proccessor that they replaced with a 486 in their business. The 1 mb of ram was on a daughter card with many chips before EDO came out.
I was raised on Macs in high school and Apple IIc before that. I recall my first access to a computer was a Apple in grade 5. We had one in the class. I think only the principal knew how to use it then. He was troubleshooting my Basic assignment for me as I did more than change the color of the square. I made a snake that moved around the screen and changed colors with his help.
Later on a IBM was something we used in Graphics class while we did our Accounting classes in the Mac lab. This was backwards as Apple products were big in my district. The IBM lab was the exception. We had more Commodore 64s than IBMs but they were never used when I went there.
I eventually got the 386 with 1mb of ram on dial up internet with AOL. Can't even imagine how slow it was then..
Last year at this time I had survived driving home from the Oregon Coast through a hell of a snowstorm in Portland with freezing rain to make it back to snowmageddon in Vancouver just in time for Xmas. This year I'm kinda of happy for rain and a high of 7C today.
He certainly seemed to be off the rails there. I was surprised at how much he bite the hand that fed him beyond the memes on Winning and Tiger Blood. I was a part time viewer of the show back when I still had cable so I was aware of some of it.
I read the indepth Deadline interview linked in the article. It had some interesting tidbits about his younger years in the business and his family too.
Hopefully he's able to stay on the rails going forward.
I just watched the first 7 episodes in the background. Fun in a rated R or HBO way. Big change from what I've been watching lately of Mr Belvedere, Parker Lewis, and 30 Rock. They were pretty sterile in relation.
Butt freedum of speech!
