Hello again!
I just completed object storage migration. Here's what I learned if you want to do it with an instance that's already setup:
Download the binary file for pict-rs from the project's git repository.
Stop the pict-rs container.
Perform the migration as indicated in the pict-rs documentation. If it hangs at some point due to a missing file, re-run with --skip-missing-files.
Verify that files have been migrated to object storage.
Change docker-compose settings.
And here the most important part.... changes won't be applied unless you run docker-compose up -d. Simply running docker-compose restart will NOT apply the new config. This might be obvious for docker users but I didn't know about it and had to rollback the first time because it wouldn't fetch images from object storage while they had already been migrated there.
I'd be more inclined to reach out to Louis Rossmann, especially since he's said he won't post on reddit anymore. Maybe we can even find a home on lemmy for his right to repair campaign.
They should be. There is currently a known bug that causes some messages to either take some time to appear or to be lost if they're not sent out in time by your server, which can happen when it's saturated. Fortunately the new lemmy version coming out tomorrow fixes this.
It can also be related to language filters that could be on by default.
You don't have your post deleted for forgetting a minor rule and there's a chance that your post will be seen instead of hidden under countless new posts.
Woah... This brings back memories from when I was a noob trying out Suse and there were no packet managers and I was constantly dual booting widows to know which rpm packages to download and install manually, only to realize that it had dependencies.
Ask your instance admin to restart the instance. It's a known bug.
I've set our instance to restart every 4 hours since it takes about 20 seconds to do a restart and is way better than having a stale timeline. That said, SIJW has thousands of users while we only have 200. We can get by restarting, maybe with more users there will be more of a negative impact even if it's only for 20 seconds every 4 hours.
Unfortunately there's probably a large amount of users who simply don't care.
But that's okay. What matters is content creators, not content consumers. Anyone with half a gram of decency and self integrity will have realized that they need to take steps to move away from Reddit.
Hooray!
Younger generations will finally be able to experience the joy of dropping their phone and having to pick up three to four different pieces! /s
Oh, I think I have the perfect series of games to you because they also work as movies, sort of.
Check out the dark pictures anthology, until dawn and the quarry, all developed by supermassive games.
