  • Right. It isn’t illegal, afaik. But what’s going on with the CBS 60 Minutes transcripts demand, the investigation into PBS and NPR, and this legitimizing disinformation sites that claim to be news, the agenda is obvious - and it’s straight out of the authoritarian checklist. I believe it’s also laid out in Project 2025?

I’m just struggling with the complete absence of a grassroots plan for the people who oppose where this is going. Is there nothing we can glean from other countries that went through authoritarian or fascist takeover in the past century, so that we can anticipate and effectively resist a USA version of the holocaust?

  • So what does 21st century resistance look like? It seems that the bystander effect Germany experienced 100 years ago is happening in the USA now. What would have prevented the rise of the Third Reich? Protests are ineffectual, and I have no idea how to organize or resist - I’m just trying to stay informed in a horrified and helpless kind of way, which accomplishes nothing more than my passive complicity.

Do we need a modern Black Panthers movement? If a brilliant and charismatic leader like Malcolm X were to come forward and lead us, would we be inadvertently accelerating the inevitable martial law or creating the excuse for Civil War II Red vs Blue? Is it even feasible to envision an effective plan from a demographic that prefers pacifism?

  • Not only that, Delta Air spent $3.8 million to lobby for more slots. United, Alaska, and American Airlines objected because experts have been arguing for years that Reagan is dangerously overcrowded and had been experiencing near-misses.

Anyway, Delta got what they wanted and just last month the airport started allowing more flights.

  • A few things to consider if relocating from east to west:

The seemingly endless open space in the west can have a physical effect. I’ve known east-to-west transplants who were unnerved by what they perceived as a sense of desolation. They felt more at home with dense cities, skyscrapers, a faster pace, urban noise, and an absence of distant horizons.

The west has a lot of dry and brown land. Unlike the wetter east, most people need to use sprinklers or irrigation. Water is a concern in the west.

Generally speaking, east communication is more abrupt and unmistakable. West speak can have layers of innuendo that can feel treacherous to people who are accustomed to blunt language.

  • My son - who served eight tours in almost every M.E. country after 9/11, who was crushed under a C130 then denied surgery for his injuries so now at age 42 he can barely walk, who slept on the glowing ground of K2, and who witnessed unspeakable horrors - was living in a tent near the river until recently.

    Fuck this fucking country.

  • Get your facts straight. Beto did not speak about gun control during his Senate campaign.

The year after he lost the Senate race to Cruz, Beto briefly campaigned for POTUS. It was during his presidential campaign that he brought up removing AR-15s and spoke about gun buyback programs.

Speaking about guns did not cost Beto the Texas Senate race because Beto is not a time traveler.
