Apparently, it isn't as good as Apple's ARM processor
Not from what my searching shows, the X1P curbstomps the M1.
AMD processors are almost what you’re looking for - low-power processors, highly performant iGPU, bang for buck
I've used a laptop with a (i think it was) Ryzen 5 5500u and it was the complete opposite of that. Lags on midnight protocol (game), it cost almost 1000euros, aka the same price as the Surface Pro 11 here, and it hit peaks of 101C, averaging at 70.
I've started looking more into getting an ARM laptop. I know a bloke who has an M1 Macbook and it has indescribable battery life without sacrificing performance. Apple is out of the question due to their walled garden, though (I don't want to get sucked into their ecosystem and end up with an iPhone, Apple Watch, and who knows what else), so Snapdragon X series it is for me.
honestly, i don't have much of a problem with the at-school tracking. i don't really skip school (or plan to), but I do want them to get more into privacy stuff.
Self-hosting seems like my best choice for now, primarily because my parents don't really want to use new messengers like telegram, because they already have to use Viber, Meta's Messenger, WhatsApp, and who knows how much more, add to that that I already have a makeshift home-server out of an old laptop. Also, it's not "all times", it's just when I'm at school.
Instagram I guess I'll just have DFInstagram isolated on a separate user account on GrapheneOS.
As for the drone, I'll try DroneLink but I have heard that it may be possible to get DJI Fly working, albeit you have to give it a lot of permissions, thus requiring that you isolate it on a separate user account.
iirc theyre meant to improve reproducibility by using pinned versions of stuff like nixpkgs instead of inheriting from your system which could be a problem if for example someone on 23.11 sends a deriv to someone on 24.05
