  • Who said I am bent out of shape? I am a bit annoyed, and pretty disappointed, but not angry. And yeah, you might succeed at making someone mad by making fun of their penis, but that isn't productive, and does not make them rethink their own toxicity. All it does is tell them that this particular type of joke is OK since both sides are using it. So it can't do any good, but can do harm.

  • AFAIK it'll send a notification, but I would be incredibly surprised if Trump looked at any notifications from small accounts. But, even in the off chance he does see, I highly doubt he would think anything about it. He is not someone to listen to anyone

  • Ah yes, the invasion of Germany is the same as a small dick joke.

The issue is not that they are punching at trump, the issue is that punch hits other people that are not trump, and trump will give zero shits about it.

  • OK, so let's say Trump sees this. How do you think it will effect him? Do you think he'll be like "Oh shit, someone made fun of my penis, better stop being a Nazi." It's pointless and does nothing to even make him feel bad. You think Trump cares what anyone besides himself thinks? All you have accomplished is perpetuating toxic masculinity as a valid form of criticism.

  • Except it doesn't work. Name once where someone was like "oh someone did the same shitty thing I did, better change my tune." All it does is reinforce their behavior as normal and acceptable

  • No offense to your father, but that doesn't seem like it invalidates what i said. Sounds like a shitty therapist. I understand the trauma of a shit parent, but that seems like a sketch mix of bad therapist and distant (at best) parent. I'm legitimately sorry you had to deal with that.

As someone that has dealt (not well) with depression, I get the work it takes to find a therapist that clicks, but fuck it might save your life. Be up front about your history. If they are worth their salt they will give 0 shits about who your father was.

  • I am not a mental health professional by any means, but if this was your experience I think you may have had a shitty therapist. Everybody I know that is in therapy and likes their therapist complains about late stage capitalism with their therapist.

  • For sure! And this article seems to be hinting at ultra-processed foods being a huge problem, when the actual problem is probably late stage capitalism and the poverty it creates (to be less than nuanced myself, lol).

  • I am by no means an expert, but I think the idea boils down to, as long as you have them in moderation, you're fine. The issue arises when people can't afford or don't have access to non-processed foods (food deserts for example). It is a deep, complex, and nuanced subject, and I don't think a single article that boils down to "ultra-processed foods bad" is really interested in the nuance.

  • I think there is consensus that processed foods are not as good for you as food in their base form. They tend to have more calories from sugar and the like. It is not that they are inherently bad, but that people eat too many of them, thus getting most of their calories from sugar instead of other macros. This study is older, but has better definitions:
