  • Yes they are arguing that by allowing aid info Gaza this props up hamas they are right wing people saying that Isreal should have been harder on hamas - you probably think Isreal should allow more aid into Palestine so either you want to prop up hamas, you don't really belive this logic or consistency doesn't matter to you and you'll use any excuse to criticize Isreal.

  • Did you read the article? Exactly as I said the argument that is that allowing aid info Palestine helped prop up hamas.

The same people that complain Isreal does not let aid in push this argument based on them letting too much aid in.

  • The report just says not to divert funding from other projects to SAF, that's pretty reasonable and expected really - At some point it might change but at the moment there are better things to spend the money snd resources on.

When the grid is green snd there is no shortage of demand even with electric cars, boats, and heating factored in then hopefully saf will have matured enough to help complete the final transition from fossil fuel or even better electric planes will take over.

Regardless the big powers will continue to research the chemistry and engineering side of SAF because it's important for space based infrastructure, no fossils in space to power the return trip.

  • Yeah here in the uk there's plenty of good charging points, woodland trust and national trust are putting them in at a lot of locations so I could plan a relaxing walk in the woods with my journey if I ever needed to go more than 150 miles, I think that would be really nice.

Supermarkets have tave them too, so I could plan getting the shopping I need for the trip while it charges, this would allow me to avoid predatory pricing at garages too.

I just looked on a road distance map and it's about where I would normally stop for a break, I've done longer drives but only rarely and I can't think of a time an excuse to stop for a walk in the woods wouldn't have been welcomed.

Oh and I only have one wiper but it was made by Hyundai so I guess it gets a pass lol

  • Translation: I've brought into the idea that america is the best and therfore without any evidence I'll assume that every bad thing that happens is worse in China.

It's weird that people acknowledge china has made huge investments in modernizing industry while america has not but then act like investing trillions in high tech manifacturing has changed nothing and the country is still just guys in pointy straw hats scratching at the dirt.

Go look at the dji factory, it's a beautifully elegant engineering masterpiece as or more advanced than any western factory. The design is efficient, robust, and retoolable with workers getting good wages and a range of benefits that rival or exceed similar employment in Europe or the US, most working 9-5 in good safe conditions with adequate breaks.

MiC25 the project to invest in and promote Chinese tech manifacturing is reaching maturity and exactly what was intended and expected is happening. The lesson should be that investing in infrastructure and modernization is a great idea but instead people want to dismiss that and say 'no surely things are always better here in the west where the only investments we make are bailing out the rich every time they fuck up'

Yes china has a lot of problems like any county, just assuming that everything they do is evil and terrible makes no sense.

  • Latchkey kids of the 21century have it worse than the originals, parents not there for them but now they're also helicopter parents spying on them and controlling their actions remotely. I guess we should call them drone parents.

  • You 'know' they're paid by Isreal? I'm guessing you know this because of totally real sources based on evidence...? No? Oh a feeling in your tummy that you want to be true because it makes you feel better to avoid reality and imagine the world as black and white? OK.

  • This argument is made a lot in conspiracy circles and anti isreal communutues, however the argument comes from the fact that Isreal paused prior conflicts for humanitarian or political reasons instead of actually destroying them with superior force. The thing you want them to do now, go easy and end the conflict early is also what you're complaining about them doing before.

  • You should, a great place to start is helping write documentation. A lot of big projects have groups that work on creating user guides and api info, some programming experience is normally required but not as much as when contributing code so it's a great way of building understanding and confidence.

  • I clearly didn't put them in the same category, I said they use the same defensive arguing tactic to justify their toxic bahviour.

And no its not THE problem, I'm able to post a comment on a thread without it totally consuming my life.

  • Stalks my post history to find out I use Ubuntu for my daily driver. Didn't mention I've been using Linux since before the twin towers fell and am a long term open source dev and contributor...

Almost like you purposely chose to be deceptive or something. I know it wasn't a choice though, this kind of immorality comes naturally to you and maybe you're not even aware of it. You should try and work on it though, you'll be amazed how much better a life of radical self awareness is.

  • Isn't it embarrassing using the same excuses as every 4chan racist and misogynist?

You're affecting how people perceive Linux and doing so in a negative way, I'm not going to try and stop you or anything but I am going to say I think you're a bad person working against all the efforts and hard work of people trying to make a better world.

How you feel about it is upto you.

Oh and of course this was just a joke so you have to laugh and agree, right?

  • Haha oh wow I love when people tell lies like this! You're in a 3rd world mining town in an impoverished region without access to drinking water but you can post all day on lemmy in perfect written English?

If your story was true it'd prove everything I was explaining about internet connectivity and mobile telephony.

My grandad actually was a miner who died young just like his dad and his dad before him, back then you didn't need to venture into the depths of the DRC to find illegal cobalt mines, all mining was a slow death sentence but then technologies changed that. We've even started using EAF in steel production so the ecological impact of making things like steel rail tracks is being reduced and coal mining can be transitioned away from.

You think one bad thing existing now is worse than the brutal conditions of the past because you have no concept of reality and how truly brutal things used to be. Comditions are improving in the drc too, there are huge international efforts on going especially formalization of ASM sites to end exploitation and unsafe practices. The majority of cobalt is from LSM sites with formalized safety protection and community support tieins, I'm sure you're gong to tell me where in the DRC you live do I can tell you details of local initiatives? I mean you live in a 3rd world country that mines cobalt that's pretty much only the DRC, maybe papa new guinea or morroco, possibly Phillipines if you really want to stretch the definition of 3rd world, or Cuba but then you couldn't blame capitalism for that mine so I'm guessing not...

Face reality, tech developments improve the lives of people regardless of the system in place - yes or would be nice to move past capitalism and greed based society but we're not going to do that by living in s fantasy land.
