Absolutely sensible choice. You’ll benefit from a lower capital outlay now, and will realise the savings once second hand EVs hit your price point.

Anyone buying new would be wise to consider an EV (if available).

It depends where you are and what market segment you’re looking in. In NZ you can buy a fully electric MG ZS EV (7 year warranty) for almost the same price as a base model Toyota Camry.

Either still driving perfectly fine or found a second life as static energy storage before ultimately being recycled.

Where I am the price difference between a base model Camry and a Model 3 is 21%. A difference I’d make up in lower running costs within two years.

Aren't great how? They have some of the most efficient cars, with high charging speeds, and easily the best charging network.

As far as EVs go, they're fantastic. Said as someone who has owned multiple EVs from different brands.

IOS didn’t allow you to set a default browser other than Safari for years and still doesn’t allow third party browsers to use their own web rendering engine.

If the DoJ don’t care about that, they won’t care that Teams ignores your default browser.

Again, I don’t condone what they’re doing. I just doubt the Justice department will care.

A lot of talk of antitrust in this thread.

Unfortunately while this behaviour is disgusting and unethical, it’s not exploiting a dominant market position to stifle competition.

To do so teams would need to be in a position of dominance, which (thankfully for anyone forced to use this garbage) it’s simply not.

This sucks, but don’t count on the government doing anything to fix it.

Sure, but teams isn’t part of office.

My current office, and my previous office was a mixture of windows, macs and iOS/android devices.

My previous role was the same.

Teams also isn’t in a monopoly position. There are plenty of alternatives which are in use and don’t force the use of edge.

Their desktop market share has dropped to 75%. That’s dominant but a far cry from the over 90% share they had during their antitrust trial.

To be clear: I think this is appalling behaviour and I’m not defending it.

I just don’t think the DoJ will care.

They're not really in the dominant market position they were in back in the 90s.

Stupid decisions like paying $200 million for Joe Rogan’s shitty podcast certainly don’t help

It can be improved if you use ‘anchor days’ with your team in the office, otherwise it’s a complete waste of time.

I’ve almost entirely moved to Mastodon. I only ever check Twitter occasionally for the few accounts I still have interest in following.

You can block him but somehow he’ll mysteriously get unblocked and start appearing in your feed again.

The only reliable method seems to be muting him.
