  • Technology connections is the gent that inspired this thread. Was watching one of his videos about old camera flashes (LITERALLY TINY FLASHBANG GRENADES. WE USED TO USE FUCKING BOMBS TO TAKE PHOTOS IN THE DARK HOW FUCKING COOL IS THAT???) and figured "huh... There are a lot of old inventions that might suck to use but are conceptually really cool, aren't there?"

    A microsd card with 64 gigs worth of flac files is smaller, more reliable, and sounds better.

  • As long as we're being arm-chair-y -- At the core of being into FOSS is the following thought: "Don't tell me what I can and can't do" -- Getting into Linux means going out and exploring, deliberately learning something, and all because you don't want your computer to decide things for you.

    .... Transgender individuals are similarly breaking out of the "conventional" and making themselves "outsiders".

    It's not causation, but correlation. Anyone who's into FOSS will most definitely not be one for conforming to social standards, and transpeople are not people who are conforming to social standards.

  • I'll let Sábado and Domingo because they at least reference christianity (a religion that is still widely practiced in the portuguese-speaking world) as opposed to using names of gods no one has worshipped for centuries (like english and spanish do) -- And those days are days of special observations in said religion -- So it makes some semblance of sense.

    I've learned english as a little kid. It's been more than 20 years.

    I've been formally considered "fluent" on it since I was 17, so 13 years ago.

    I have never properly learned the weekday names in english. I also patently refuse.

    Why isn't TWOsday the second? Why is there a fried day? Is that the only day you're allowed to eat deep fried foods?

    Just number your days instead of using weird mythological names that reference gods you don't even worship anymore and used to kill people for woshipping. ***ing gringos.
