Call me crazy, but if a person charged with upholding the law knowing breaks the law, I think it should be automatically a felony.

Those we imbue with power should be held to higher standards and have greater accountability, not lesser.

Facts. It's hard to balance my desire for both interaction and autonomy with my compassion for others seeking the same thing, but when it begins to encroach on my autonomy and sense of freedom I find it a quickly stifling feeling.

Ain't that some shit, right? People say like "try playing multiplayer games, you love gaming!" Yeah except gaming spaces are like, often particularly hostile and unwelcoming?

They should because who the fuck is a corporation to dictate what is and is not appropriate? What the fuck qualifies them to the moral arbiters of society?

I really doubt that... Why would they go through the cost of producing a plastic version of their product when they could simply use the actual article? I worked in a cheese shop for years, these particular wheels are VERY durable - I legitimately can't think of any benefit in using a fake cheese wheel, aside from TheTetrapod's correct comment about these wheels sweating oil (which makes most people's skin breakout into acne) which can be easily and immediately solved by using a rag.

edit: and again, having worked closely with this exact cheese many many many times, that is exactly what they look like as whole wheels. I have zero reason to believe this is plastic.

Yes, that was literally my point. A plumbing wrench is a perfectly useful and wonderful tool, but it isn't going to be much help in the middle of brain surgery. Tools have use cases; they can't be applied to any situation

It's really simple: There are a number of use cases where generative AI is a legitimate boon. But there are countless more use cases where AI is unnecessary and provides nothing but bloat, maybe novelty at best.

Generative AI is neither the harbinger or doom, nor the savior of humanity. It's a tool. Just a tool. We're just caught in this weird moment where people are acting like it's an all-encompassing multipurpose tool right now instead of understanding it as the limited use specific tool it actually is.

This is such a weird performative thing, why are we pretending kids are speaking some incomprehensible foreign language? Aside from a couple pieces of really specific slang, most of which is only ever used ironically anyway (I'm looking at you, "skibidi"), it's the exact same evolution of language and slang as every other previous generation before it, just perhaps with a wider spread and more global influence. And almost all of it can be deciphered with little effort: Rizz = ChaRISma, Gyatt = GYATTdamn (goddamn), etc.

Like I know we're all eventually going to become the next generation of boomers, such is the curse of time, but jesus christ y'all don't have to fucking speedrun to that conclusion.

I don't know about you, but personally I always planned to be better to the generation that followed me than the generation that preceded mine was to us.
