In 10 years, it seems we not only gave up our own nations’ dreams of equality and union, but lustfully decided to lick the boots of those telling us our dreams aren’t worth having. It doesn’t help that the self-proclaimed “leader of the free world” is a known rapist who cuts deals with the Taliban at the expense of women’s liberties.
I won’t complain, but every one of these corrupt individuals shares responsibility for the current state of affairs (McConnell most of all for pushing so hard to ram Citizens United down our throats). May they be successful in passing this act, but may they all rot in hell afterwards.
I think the main reason we never fully recovered from 2008 was because of Mitch McConnell’s personal pet project, Citizens United, which handed full control of the government over to those who caused the problem in the first place.
So why not join the majority party — in this case the GOP — and reshape it again from the inside? We’ve seen the GOP is open to tectonic shifts of change, as long as it’s coming from fellow “Republicans.” Donnie himself was a Democrat before he noticed the door to the GOP was already open wide.
My son’s a teenager now, but the three months I spent at home with him and my wife after his birth were some of the most incredibly enlightening, rewarding and exhausting days of my life. I’d encourage every parent to spend as much time with their newborn as possible — if not for yourself and for your child, then for your spouse. All three of you will be learning a whole new way of life, and it’s great that you’ll be able to experience and shape it together.
Be real careful. We thought we were turning the corner a few years ago, too. Seems so long ago.
