  • ... and likely be faster for a couple of the 200+MB PDF's.

    Natrator: "It wasn't!"

    Jokes aside, where do you live where 200MB x some would be considered some heavy storage? I mean me uploading that file to someone would take 2 seconds on my cheap home 1024Mb/s connection. A pro one would probably be way better...

    I love the name of IPFS (Inter Planetary File System!), it's cool and all but IMO the technology behind it is not at all living up to it, it's basically just a benevolent storage with static links.

  • Even the first one.

    The mouse is moving. It's potentially the mouse-pointer that is not moving.

    Seriously.

    On a side note, love you IT guys 💖 and it seems that if you ask nicely if they have time, they'll listen and if you try to do your best they'll be all over it to help you out the best they can.

  • The modular phone was a nice dream but IMO a fairytale dream, even Apple have had problems fitting all the needed stuff together so good luck with a Lego phone except if it's the size of a brick.

    Now it's probably the time for a linux/free/foss phone, as IMO they start to be both standardised and actually quite enough for the moment;

    My old Xiaomi 9 pro that goes used for 80€ used in mint condition has 6GB RAM 128GB storage, SD card, octo core CPU etc. That's close to my penultimate PC. The next next next version (Xiaomi 12Pro) has about the same specs except the camera stuff.

    That's when FOSS people can start to dig into stuff, not when specs changes crazily every year.

  • The last Linux Mint installs went totally smooth. On think centres /thinkpads though. Usualy never had problems installing windows except back in the day and you needed to prime and cut up your hard drives.

  • I just jumped ship completely (last was dealing with scanner & printer) with windows, where can I find replacements for the 5 people I "follow" on youtube (ukraine war reports & beginner chess)? I mean is there even an alternative?

  • Yeah I have got tons of stuff from there, only time it didn't work out was:

    5€ watches, they are just as crappy as you'd imagine 😁

    Once an item didn't show up, and seller needed a video/photo so I just filmed my empty hand. Didn't get refunded.

    But that's about it.

    Ofc, there are obvious scammy stuff, so check out size etc and if it's too good to be true, well then it's probably not true.
