  • American movies have an ambiance unique to theirs that is easy to catch with a bit of experience.

And it baffles me that literally every yankee action movie is the same, like don’t they have something else to film/invent new scrip?

It is the formula that generates the most revenue. Capitalism and so on.

    1. Is it an American production?
    2. Does it look expensive enough to look like it is made in Hollywood?

If yes to both, then it is state-spondored propaganda.

  • Watches state-spondored propaganda

Is surprised when the state is portrayed positively

  • Hearing libertarian leftists mention the Spanish Civil War and explain it as "the Soviets betraying anarchists" to justify their beliefs, as someone who actually had it in his school curriculum, is a level of pain that I wish to no one. No mention of their war industry mismanagement, no mention of their botched justice system, no mention of their military ineptitude at the Aragon front and most importantly, no mention of the actions of nonchalant sabotage against the broader Republican front (the real force against fascism) that led to the May Days of 1937.

Fantasizing about a romantisized picture of brave anarchist freedom fighters being stabbed with a dagger in the back by the devilish tankies dressing in cloaks is and will always be more adequate than picking up a book and actually learning about their movement's past, be it with Catalonia, with Makhno's Ukraine or absolutely anywhere else.

The fun part of it is that, because of it, you always have the chance of catching anarchists by surprise by showing them their own history and seeing them not knowing what to do. Next time you find one searching for trouble, ask them about Makhno's history with Mennonites.

  • Tik Tok's format is something that I find terrifying, and even more than the rest of internet social media is trying to follow it, such as with Youtube and its shorts. The fact that instant gratification is being promoted for profit so badly that we have now a flow of videos with Subway Surfers gameplays on the side not to lose watchers' attentions is simply sinister.

At least back then we fried our neurons watching things like these for three and a half minutes without blinking instead.

  • I'm an early zoomer (you know, genZ-edong) already living in adulthood. Not long ago I was thinking about that time of my teenage years in which I spent way too much time on the internet, during that era ranging from rage faces, nyan cat and the golden age of creepypastas until the peak in popularity of cringe culture youtube channels, all while browsing completely unsupervised. If you are any like me, you will be familiarised with the feeling that you would like to tell your past self to get off the computer, thinking that probably doing so would have saved you from many problems and made your future life somewhat easier.

It has been however only now as I have rejoined internet communities (yes, such as lemmygrad) that I have noticed that the later members of gen Z seem not only to be commiting the same mistakes I myself did, but more severely and with a much greater dependency on the internet than I ever had, neglecting to a worrying level the development of skills as basic as socialization and critical thinking. Is it just me who is becoming a grumpy old man yelling at clouds, or does anyone else share the same concerns?

  • I was subscribed to it initially hoping to find funny content, the kind of commentary about communism that you see on the internet once in a while that is so bad that it turns around all the way into being good again, in a comedic way. Instead, it's just a compilation of all things reactionary ever said on the internet.

Also, of the 40 posts currently on the community's front page, 22 are all made by the same user, who I suppose just goes there to post every time they find content posted by a liberal/libertarian/fascist. It is frankly a bad community, and you did well by blocking it.

  • Personally I find those where she paints innocuous situations as terrible to be my favourite variation.

  • I do not know where is it that you heard about Rammstein's ties with fascism, but if it was in this page, chances are it may have been from me.

That being said, I do not think that phenomenon you describe is a novelty to the 20th century. I personally think Britain has been to this day the one with most success at it - As well as the most destructive.

  • I think we all can set that aside for a moment and be glad to see that Yeonmi Park is being seen every time more, even by mainstream society, as a fraudster.

  • Till Lindemann, vocalist and lyricist of Rammstein.

  • I am currently following from close the development of an allegation of sexually predatory behaviour from a big-name musician in the metal industry. Reading accounts of the disgusting things this millionaire has been doing to working-class women with complete impunity for years by using his fortune and fame has only strengthened my wishes to see this rotten system overthrown and all these people held accountable in the most severe of ways.

  • I have been searching through the long list of local communist parties lately and considering joining one, as I seem to find myself doing once every year or two.

The task used to be a hard one years ago for me when I was less well versed in marxism, as I found most of them to be very similar, too much to discard one or another with ease. Now the task feels much easier after I began actively looking for their stances on modern China and anti-imperialism in general. It filters out parties to be disregarded a lot better this way.

  • Congratulations, it looks wonderful. Do you think you could make a version with the original text in Russian?

  • Can we get a translation?

  • Reddit is still in complete denial because the Ukrainian government refuses to accept the loss of Bakhmut. We'll see how long it takes for Ukraine to accept defeat, and how much (probably a long time) it takes for Reddit to follow.

  • The fact that I have found zero western media outlets covering this says quite a lot of how intense has the propaganda game become in the West over this war.

  • I used to hate big red circles and arrows in thumbnails as a form of clickbait, but now that youtubers have found out that the uncanny valley is the best way to get the largest amount of clicks on their videos, I can say I even miss it.

  • Liberals have gotten worse since quite few years already. The complete abandonement of the anti-war stances seen during the days of the Iraq war is one of the clearest examples of it.

  • Thankfully they didn't end both mean and spineless.

Explaining the dialectic triad can be complicated (as it is to explain anything coming from Hegel) especially as I have found that simplifying your explanation too much can distort the idea you are trying to transmit, but often I find success explaining hegelian dialectics the way Hegel intended (as the constant movement forward of ideas) and the way I had it explained to me: gravitational theory.

    1. Aristotle began explaining objects falling to the ground as the result of a force (gravitas) that attracted objects towards the centre of the universe (for him, the Earth). He also observes that gravity pulls with a greater force objects that are heavier. These ideas form the thesis.
    2. Copernicus then says that the Earth is not the centre of the universe. This idea is a direct contradiction to Aristotle's, and thus an antithesis.
    3. Galileo then states that gravity pulls all objects at the same, constant acceleration, thus creating another antithesis to Aristotle's thesis.
    4. Newton then gathers the developments made by the three (Aristotle's gravitas, Copernicus' heliocentrism and Galileo's constant acceleration) and develops a theory in which he explains how the universe moves and spins thanks to gravity. The synthesis is thus formed when from the clash of these ideas arises a new one, more advanced than the ones it originated from.

After this you can then explain how Marx refuses this explanation to be applied only to ideas, brings dialectics to the material world and so on and so on.
