Oh wow! I forgot just how thick that thing was. That's just ridiculous!

The bump is what it takes to deliver the product that most buyers want. between the stats we already want and advertising influencing what we want, the best seller ends up being the phone with the bump.

If you don't like that, you're looking for some kind of limited edition for a specific market or cheap version of the latest and greatest.

They do still make a few flip phones if you want to go hardcore with your approach.

There was an extra thick phone with an unbelievably long lasting battery available a few years back. It didn't sell well enough to stay on the market.

Can confirm on the shoes. Whatever else needs cut back, as long as you can afford rent and food and gas to get to work, buy good quality shoes. Not all expensive shoes are good, but good shoes are not cheap. Second hand good shoes that are your size are very very rare. Upgrading insoles can get you by for a while, but there's nothing like good quality shoes.

Everyone I've read here is talking about Russia immediately launching their nukes, but among so many nations, surely several would think to do something sneaky to disarm the nukes before anyone launches a full-on attack against Russia.

There's a huge difference between nice but also thoughtless and kind and thoughtful. Being predicable on the road is kind and thoughtful. Waving someone to go out of turn is nice but thoughtless

If your income is low enough, you can get free insurance through the government. In my experience, the regular doctor checkups and stuff is covered, along with prescriptions and any emergency room visits. The dental portion only covers the worst dentist in town, and vision is non existent.

It's not great, but medically necessary things are covered without copay or arguing with an insurance company to get it paid for. It's good enough that I've known people who purposely kept their income low to continue to qualify for the free insurance.
