Taking a look at the global index fund where I have some of my savings I see that it went up 28 % last year. It is almost as if there is one part of the economy available to working people and one for those with monetary assets 🤔
Those advocating for it also use it to display their total lack of perspective and analysis of the mechanics of capitalism. I.e. one can use it as a sign on one's head saying "not at home for the moment, try again later".
Then I was wrong to assume that privilege of you and you can disregard what I wrote. I tend to assume privilege of those I interact with because in the majority of cases it is true. Most people with privilege also are quite unaware of it. As I think it is our moral imperative to stand up for our comrades in need, I will continue to urge those with positions to act to do so and not get pacified on the expense of those that will seriously hurt from it.
Also, I think nihilism in some cases actually displays privilege. Apart from being socialist, I would probably not be the prime target of fascist reactionary and nationalistic behavior. Therefore I do not think I can morally allow myself to laugh about it at all, but rather channel despair into rage and willingness to fight back.
I understand the simplification, but neither post scarcity nor elimination of money is necessary for establishing socialism. There just needs to be a fair and even allocation of it, which mostly necessitates eliminating private ownership of capital.
No one is labeling you. Though you should perhaps reflect on the world around you and maybe see that adhering to an ideology is actually just applying philosophy comprehensively to all layers of society at the same time.
Maybe I am just projecting here, but I believe the average Lemmy user to be too much of a nerd to be welding in their free time. Is it possible to be both Bonehead?
I do not see myself forced to use Windows at home because I really am not. I can use alternative software, not play games with anticheat rootkits and pirate DRM media. I agree that there are tradeoffs, but I am under no threat of losing the roof over my head, so I think it to be very much feasible. Though the point of my comment was to point out (pun intended) that separating work and personal computing is actually a good thing for many reasons, one of which that you can probably use Linux.
