  • Taking a look at the global index fund where I have some of my savings I see that it went up 28 % last year. It is almost as if there is one part of the economy available to working people and one for those with monetary assets 🤔

  • Those advocating for it also use it to display their total lack of perspective and analysis of the mechanics of capitalism. I.e. one can use it as a sign on one's head saying "not at home for the moment, try again later".

  • Then I was wrong to assume that privilege of you and you can disregard what I wrote. I tend to assume privilege of those I interact with because in the majority of cases it is true. Most people with privilege also are quite unaware of it. As I think it is our moral imperative to stand up for our comrades in need, I will continue to urge those with positions to act to do so and not get pacified on the expense of those that will seriously hurt from it.

  • I suppose, but a three finger swipe still only needs one hand (I think it is the same on macbooks) so should work fine.

  • Also, I think nihilism in some cases actually displays privilege. Apart from being socialist, I would probably not be the prime target of fascist reactionary and nationalistic behavior. Therefore I do not think I can morally allow myself to laugh about it at all, but rather channel despair into rage and willingness to fight back.

  • How could it get any worse? Will the nukes start flying?

Yeah, maybe. Despite the US' best efforts to fuck things up, much of the people around the world has gotten it better the last hundred years.

  • Laughing while fascists rise to power is sad. Hope the US does not bring the rest of the world with them while crashing and burning.

  • I think something general on methods in cognitive behavioral therapy could be useful. It is boring, but effective in my experience.

  • "Professional software" yuck. More like proprietary garbage. Also, my grandma uses Linux. It is not hard.

  • I understand the simplification, but neither post scarcity nor elimination of money is necessary for establishing socialism. There just needs to be a fair and even allocation of it, which mostly necessitates eliminating private ownership of capital.

  • No one is labeling you. Though you should perhaps reflect on the world around you and maybe see that adhering to an ideology is actually just applying philosophy comprehensively to all layers of society at the same time.

  • Pretty much all of the internet and most appliances run Linux. If you are actually taking the comparison seriously it would say that it does work.

EDIT: Or BSD, but the same holds true for it as well.

  • Anarcho-capitalism is a contradictory term that is mostly used to imagine neofeudalism.

  • Maybe I am just projecting here, but I believe the average Lemmy user to be too much of a nerd to be welding in their free time. Is it possible to be both Bonehead?

  • Sigh.

Was alone pretty much an appropriate response to parent comment. Though I applaud you for your preservation.

  • Some consider the spyware to be a feature TM

  • Same, but I am clinically tried to be lazy as well.

  • Birkenstocks with socks is industry standard at the faculty of mathematics where I studied. Should be so everywhere.

  • I do not see myself forced to use Windows at home because I really am not. I can use alternative software, not play games with anticheat rootkits and pirate DRM media. I agree that there are tradeoffs, but I am under no threat of losing the roof over my head, so I think it to be very much feasible. Though the point of my comment was to point out (pun intended) that separating work and personal computing is actually a good thing for many reasons, one of which that you can probably use Linux.
