  • Public transportation checking in here

  • You are right that you did not mention being a home owner anywhere, but the inability for people to be so is a very fair reason to want to be living at home. That young people cannot be financially independent is a problem made by the older generations. The same young people may be working and contributing at home, without having said economic freedom.

  • Art has value and needs to be produced. What is the conclusion you want to make about it with regards to ownership of property?

  • Producing value is expected in most societies.

How did you not connect producing value with ownership of property?

  • Why is being economically disenfranchised corrolated to not producing value? I could understand an inverse corrolation however.

  • What do you even mean by universal truth? In math this makes sense, but not here. You cannot say anything meaningful in this context using such a qualifier. The closest you get to universal truth is that people have some property, unfortunately, so that saying certain things makes you popular because it is what people want to hear, regardless of truth value.

  • For 2., to be successful mostly so, unfortunately.

  • To be fair, the military junta in Egypt are cooperating heavily with Israel in it's genocidal efforts due to geopolitical reasons.

  • Chill out. They may be German or something where shit like that is concatenated into one word.

  • Also, why the fuck should they not have access to ps3, books and such. Prison is about taking away one's freedom, not about putting people in psychological or physical distress. In Norway we want convicts to be in a better state when they come out than when they got incarcerated (though Breivik will most likely never come out). Who wants to live next to a person who have been 20 years in solitary, I mean come on.

  • You just said you did not have any examples to back your claim. Hence it is not an argument, but, as said, a baseless claim.

  • You have yet to make an actual argument, which lowers the bar for what I am willing to contribute back.

  • Was definitely wrong to think you had some sense

  • Disclaimer that I do not know where you live. However, if you have say public funded health care, then I think paying for pension you might not get to be a non-issue. Further, many contribute to health care they do not receive themselves. This is the way it should be since burdens should be shared and one should receive based on needs.

If you are in a capitalist hellhole without crumbles of social policies, I just feel sorry for you. The issue is still really not about paying for pensions, but lack of social security besides that. Good luck with your health and do not forget that medical advances are frequent these days.

  • Are you saying I was wrong for assuming you had examples in mind and that your claim was baseless? Either way, using the term supreme leader ironically is top notch lib edgelord rhetoric in the absence of understanding power dynamics.

  • Let us not pretend it is that much of an expense to have national public broadcast services. There is also PBS in the US, SVT in Sweden, BBC in the UK and so on. Just admit your point was pointless and the cherry picking was done on your side and move on.

  • We are talking about financing. You calling it "state run" only serves to reveal your own bias. It is very much possible to have non profit independent news as well as public funded news outside of politicians control. We have this in Norway, which is really fucking important because one fucking company has bought all for profit news agencies.

Speaking of glory to the supreme leader, the company in question is also privately held like some sort of Succession fantasy.

  • No, it is just a plain defect of capitalistic monetization schemes not aligning with what is good for society. Also, for-profit news stink of corruption and bourgeoisie propaganda with added deficiency of boring clickbait tabloid shitreads more adequate as toilet paper.

  • Ultimately none of this matters once MS based software has won some sort of auction for a contract (thanks Thatcher). Vendor lock-in is problematic in a lot of cases with a multiplier of damage based on the size of the entity wrapped in it's web.

  • DPKR isn't a dictatorship though. Kim alone holds less power in his country than Biden for instance. Also he was elected. DPKR have some sort of direct democracy that most western world doesn't even dream about.

So I want to start off with recognizing that western media love to blow up American propaganda about how "batshit crazy" Kim Jong-un is. In reality I think development of nukes is to some degree quite sensible as a defensive measurement for DPRK, especially given their stated goal to develop socialism without external involvement.

Formally DPRK looks quite democratic with power derived from the working people's assembly. However, I do not see how formalism really matters if it does not conform with praxis. Having officials elected for life from the same bloodline is to me a big red flag in this regard. The same with things like the assembly only being actually assembled for a few days of the year and statisics regarding voter participation and such.
