  • It's self selecting. You speak out against trump/Maga and a further right candidate primaries you and may win. Or you get so sick of associating with trump/Maga you quit because you know the primary with put you out.

  • He just can't get over Biden not running anymore because his entire campaign strategy has been look how old and frail Biden is. Without that comparison people see how low energy he is and the very real signs of dementia. I wonder if the rumor is true and he will replace his campaign strategists this close to the election.

  • In 2020 Florida was only won by 3.5%. That isn't large enough to be considered a safe state. Now you could argue that it has shifted a good deal one way, and that may be true. It's also worth mentioning Florida has about 0% chance at being the tipping point state. If Florida is even close to turning blue Harris already won, and the closer sunbelt and southern states like NC and Georgia likely have already gone blue as well.

If anything boosting Democrat enthusiasm in the state means more to helping lower elections than it would have an affect on the top of the ticket.

  • Well, he's an election denying Maga billionaires' toady, that lacks any charisma, trashes where he came from and then hitches himself to someone he previously denounced in an effort to gain political power. Oh and he wants to completely ban abortion. He's an unlikable political opportunist. It's no wonder that the publics opinion of him will continue to drop.

  • It really feels like they developed a revenue stream prior to developing a product. All we've heard is some "Ai features" would be a subscription service, but their software has been preety universally mid at best, and AI is starting to see some backlash. We are seeing companies try to cram AI into everything even when it has no purpose being there. I get the feeling that companies are starting to catch onto this AI investments have become ridiculously expensive and have provided nearly zero additional value to their products and services.

  • One thing to note is pac money is less efficient than campaign money. Campaigns get the lowest rate for advertisements while pacs pay market rate. Super pacs technically can't coordinate with campaigns so there isn't a unified message, however the FEC is pretty toothless so any coordination would likely have to be very blatant for action to be taken. Their advertisements can also be overly biased by their ultra wealthy donors, ie something that musk cares about a lot may not have significant sway on the public which can cause said ad to be wasted.

  • Exactly. SS is too popular. There will be some sort of reform/funding, but congress will wait to the least minute to fix a problem. See any sort of continuing resolution government funding bill or the last time SS had problems back in the 80s. The '83 reform only occurred a mere months prior to insolvency. The fact that SS is still years/decades from major problems means it's someone else's problem to our elected representatives.

  • The newest revision of the prius has an option for rooftop solar. The break even point is relatively long, in the 5-8 year time frame iirc. The energy generation isn't massive; at 185w it won't substantially extend the range something like 5 miles per day.

  • One can't help but wonder if these easily avoidable public gaffs are purposeful to avoid being tapped to be trump VPs. They would likely be compelled to not say no, else he couple mobilize the MAGAts against you politically. At best it's probably a dead end political position that could consume the remainder of your political career, at worst he may entice a mob to try to kill you.

  • Somehow I don't believe their numbers. Average $30/hr and $23/hr after expenses. IRS milage is $0.67/mi. Are they really saying über drivers are only driving about 10 miles every hour, or are they just offloading that working expense onto drivers and only accounting for the ~$3 per gallon fuel consumption?

  • I have prime for the no rush shipping. Every time I delay my same day or next day shipping to the 3-4 day no rush shipping I get a few dollars of digital credits which I use to buy ebooks. Over the course of a year it essentially pays for the cost of prime with free books I would have bought anyway.
