  • on top of that, amazon and google this past week said that their devices would now listen all the time by default and send that data to hq. Now if you are just discussing something it will be added to your advertising profiles. I bet a bunch of cars and other benign objects are doing similar things.

gpt and low cost cameras now give companies the ability to monitor you 365 while on their property if they want to. Discussing something in line at the grocery store, llm note take takes that, time stamps it with your order and ties it to you profile. Doing a drug deal at your local circle K and dont by anything, cameras catch you license plate and suddenly you are getting amazon ads for the types of rubber bands your customers prefer you use on their 8balls

  • yeah I feel that more than ever with the US entities and am in the US. Regardless of all the privacy and corruption that is in open season now, this is going to also lead to a massive enshitification of US companies because of the ever increasing monopolies and lack of competition

  • thank you, i had a feeling there was some privacy issues with the openness of the network. I always thought reddit would do good to have multiple profiles allowed to a main account, so if you wanted to shitpost, or if you wanted to wankbank it, or discuss Friedman economics you would have profile to do that with. Of course big reddit would admin all that, but it would reduce in theory all the new accounts constantly being made alongside the bot accounts and reduce some of the throw away nature of accounts that accrue to much data over time thru the nature of commenting

  • i think the image was used to illustrate the point of being on a spectrum of differences and as a proper shit post follow up to a well thought out and carefully worded comment. Saw a pretty good tedtalk on this recently :24 is where it gets into it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

  • that sounds kinda cool actually, i just got into thrift shopping. Any good resources for getting started with estate auctions, and do you ever find anything worth the effort? Im a minimalist and just sort of furnishing my place or trading up

  • i guess if viewed from an overly protective POV and maybe in a sensitive subreddit in subject matter, but in the more generic subs that make it to Popular regularly, quality shit posting needs to be considered and applauded as being such. Like if it was a subreddit for survivors of being punched by redditors, i would not make such a comment, very poor taste.

  • yeah, just got banned, it seems like today i finally begin my lemmy journey. How well does it hold up for deep subject matter knowledge that i found in some subreddits over the years and how is the best way to tap into that knowledge with lemmy? Does google index them or is their native search better than whatever reddits search was?

got banned for trying to help reddit too. Threatened to punch anybody that upvoted violent content and to knock it off! Being a bootlicker is one thing, but the gaul to be ungrateful to someone trying to help!??

That is a bridge to far and I say "Good day, sir."

Now lemmy gets the opportunity to impress me, I hope it is grateful for the chance.
