  • Lets just pretend for a moment that Israel has NOT spent the last 50 years murdering random Arabs all over their country. Lets say that tomorrow members of the IDF just lines up a bunch of Palestinian kids against a wall and shot them. Would that be wrong?

  • Plus its honestly getting kind of hard to NOT buy an SUV or a large car. The smallest car at an American Honda dealership is an SUV (HRV) now and its fucking massive compared to their smallest car from just a few years ago (Honda Fit). If you wanted an actual compact car you aren't getting one there. That is the same story at a lot of dealers. EVERYTHING is big. Hell, even historic compacts like the Civic and Corolla are massive next to their previous generations. I have a 2000 civic that looks like a toy next to a 2023 civic.

  • Getting shot at all is an anomaly, but if its a big enough problem to care about AT ALL (and clearly anyone who owns a gun for defense cares about that anomaly a great deal) then mass shootings are indeed a significant contributor to that issue.

Also, a person's personal risk of suicide is highly dependent on their own health and choices. I can exert control over that risk by simply not owning a gun. How do I mitigate my risk of being the victim of a mass shooting? Just don't go outside?

  • People don't get their guns taken away after literally threatening to kill people and getting institutionalized and you are worried about it happening over Oreos? How about we START with the self-identified violent maniacs and then worry about the oreo scenario?

  • I think the fundamental issues with guns is that they SUBSTANTIALLY shorten the time and effort to put thoughts into action. Thinking "man, i want to kill everyone here." is a pretty abstract thought, until you actually have the means to kill everyone there right at hand.

  • Most of these laws, and most of the historic gun control in the US, is really intended to be used to keep guns from the "wrong sort" of people, and that means leftists and brown people generally. Crazy white guys were never the target of any prior firearms legislation or enforcement mechanism. That's really the core of the problem here.

  • Why are you still talking about the last two weeks when the entire point of this discussion was about what happened before October? Just say that you only discovered this issue two weeks ago if that is the case, which is getting to be pretty obvious if we are being honest here.

You want me to acknowledge that more missiles would have hit Israel in the last two weeks if Israel didn't shoot down those missiles? Yeah, no shit. Do you think that proves a point? Israel has very little to fear from Gaza, we already knew that.

  • I'm not even sure its legal in the US. The mixed brake lights are one thing, but even in the US they cannot be the ONLY form of brake light. And the idea of a "center light" being the normal tail light turning OFF and being replaced with a smaller light doesn't seem like it would meet even the relatively lax US DOT requirements.
