  • My understanding is that it required four parts. Metallurgy, precision engineering, scientific method, the history of us trying all the wrong ways before.

Like, the Roman's had the steam engine they just couldn't make reliable high quality parts. Further they didn't know a rational economy was something they should have or could have wanted.

  • China needed them because they wanted money from the west. If they hadn't we would have done a cold war to them long ago and they might not have been strong enough to handle it. Because they had some billionairs we took it easy on them for a while and now they are strong enough to resist our coup attempts. So it wasn't that the oligarchs class is good for anything. They just needed to be part of our system for self defence.

  • Theoretically if she doesn't get along with you that's fine. Not everyone likes everyone. However she should be cool about it. This seems uncool. It seems like she is resenting the increased amount of his time and space you are occupying. Depending on how everyone is about everything I'd ask your boy to work on it. Then just sitting down and the three of you talking it out. Especially if you are new to poly they owe it to you to help work through issues as they come up.

  • They really can't be stealing tech from us companies. In almost all cases they just bought it from some college. Our tax dollars paid for it and companies have it represent that value of it being stolen. If China takes it and makes better products we can buy that us actually a good return on investment for us.

  • That is probbaly the way to do. It doesn't feel right to me. I think. Like, I can find you a video of a six year old choking a processional fighter unconscious in 6-12 seconds. The only strength involved would be getting into that position you know. The air choke thing kinda fits with what we observe in realmlife better than what I woudl ahve thought though. For stuff like arm bars or joint hold manuvers it is almost trivially easy to break someone's arm with a well placed move. Pro fighters often get injured in training when they are trying not to you know. Which would interfere with somatic components at least. The numbers you talked about make sense in terms of a low-level fighter and a peasant with 1d4 hp. But realistically an arch magus would be just as vulnerable to being triangle chocked by a farm boy as the other farmers he us used to wrestling with at festivals.
