  • All that work people put in to create this and it's all going to disappear because of corporate greed. I wanted to see Coyote vs. Acme, but I guess I never will.

  • I really hope it was Billy that caved and not TG. Dude really is awful in quite a few ways.

If anyone wants a ridiculously long deep dive on the Billy Mitchell stuff(and is willing to read instead of watching a video), I recommend checking out this. There's also on that website a huge deep dive into the story about his alleged "perfect Pacman" run, and his history of gaslighting the classic gaming community into thinking he was the greatest gamer ever.

  • I couldn't get past the second area(I think?)of Cuphead, there was a dragon boss that was just a wall for me.

  • This isn't surprising in the least. They've been pushing more and more ads recently; trying to get streamers to run them more often. I hate ads, so I have always opted for a short pre-roll so that when its done, viewers won't have to worry about ads anymore. But I think Twitch will eventually force streamers to run ads every half hour, no matter how many people they scare off.

  • Fortunately, Musk walked it back(for now):

UPDATE 1/9/24: Hours after reporting out this initial story, some of the suspended X accounts returned. X has not explained what happened and the affected account owners have no idea why they were briefly suspended. The reinstatement came after notable users such as George Galloway, a former member of the British Parliament, called out Musk for banning the accounts.

Of course, anyone who's still on there should consider leaving... he's going to continue to pull this shit, and the more people that interact with the platform, the more legitimized it is.

  • Glad it's getting expanded. I live near a light rail station and I use it to get to downtown for work. Between that and the fact that I live between a couple of grocery stores in easy walking distance(not to mention a nice Asian market across the street with $6 banh mi!), I don't need a car.

  • Ugh, if this goes through, we'll be down to what, four Hollywood major studios now? (WB-Paramount, Disney, Universal, Sony) Yikes.

  • Sometimes you just need to throw some hands to prevent worse violence down the line. It isn't a perfect world and we're a bunch of upjumped apes. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to be better than that, but we should at least be realistic about the hand we've been dealt. That being said, perhaps you're right about going the restorative justice route. I just worry because, this is getting normalized way past what anyone should feel comfortable about. Like, I feel we should do everything we can to prevent people from becoming Nazis. If naming and shaming deters people from going down that rabbit hole, I think we at least have to consider it.

  • In 99% of cases, you would be correct. However, these are Neo-Nazis we're talking about here. Like, if they got their way, I'd be dead, so so would a lot of other innocent people. Their ideology has caused unspeakable horrors, and it'll happen again if we let our guard down. There has to be a social cost to being a Nazi. Like, this shit is getting way too close to the right wing mainstream. This isn't a matter of just "people we don't like". They're dangerous. Name them. Shame them. Ruin their lives. Force their evil ideology back into the deep, dark fringes where it belongs.

  • Hey, that's neat, wasn't really expecting that. It's still an absolute joke that he lasted this long, though.

  • It's alright, just basically Twitter 2. It's useful for some things. A lot of creatives chose to migrate there, which is nice so that I can network with fellow Twitch streamers and keep up with news on the platform. As much as I like Mastodon, I just wasn't getting that there. It's also nice that a bunch of artists I used to follow are there.

  • Beehaw's admins have been trying to address some of those issues.

  • About time. I was really starting to wonder if they were planning on leaving it open until the government shutdown date next month. Not that this'll stop them. This guy is a MAGA traitor, after all. None of these Republican clowns are fit for office at all.

  • Criticism of the actions of Israel's government does not make one an antisemite.

  • Honestly, any Republican that tries to work with the Democrats at this point is going to get eaten alive. Even if it's a "moderate" one. They have completely gone off the deep end.

  • I've been using it for years, first out of disdain for Internet Explorer, now out of disdain for Google Chrome. I just do not trust the corpos at all, and Firefox has always been solid(outside of a few years in the '10s).

  • Been on that F-Zero 99 grind. Got myself up to A- rank, so I'm not doing too badly. :)

  • The Lemmy dev AMA really shook my faith in the future of lemmy itself. That being said, I'll support and stand behind you, regardless of what you decide. If we make a new platform, I'll follow, if we choose to stand our ground and make the best of it, I'll help do my part. I believe in Beehaw and I'm proud to be part of the community.
