I think the main complaint is that it seems like Canonical is trying take control of Linux packaging. Don't they handle their stuff in a way that pretty much prevents third party 'Snap Stores'? Like, their backend being closed source and their software only accepting their own signatures?
In fairness to him, the number of people killed by police is rising and there are nazi cops. Still, can't pull the trigger in Germany without an investigation and nazis can/do get kicked out of the police just for being one
Linux basically cannot damage hardware in any way that Windows couldn't. The hardware/firmware decides what interfaces it offers and what you can configure. If any hardware puts these roadblocks only in the driver or some UI, and (for whatever reason) only the Windows version, I guess you could.
Would be a really strange thing to do tho, since most just implement a generic driver that works everywhere and then at most an interface on top of that.
Research is highly competitive, avoid if don't have ambition or can't handle constant pressure
Some (most) jobs do not require PhDs, but most will care about practical experience and age
Research is a lot of work. If you want a peer group, you work 40h a week, then peer review stuff for your buddies. You will need buddies, because you need peer reviews too of course
(As you already mentioned) at least until you have your PhD, pay is between bad and insulting
If you do have the ambition to land a top-tier position in the end, maybe even stay and compete in research, go for it. If you love doing research, go for it. If you just want the title, just don't. Go work somewhere. Best case they offer a PhD programme at the company or you can earn certificates and whatnot
Don't you hate on donkeys! They are an excellent mean of transportation on tough terrain. I don't know in what context russia uses them, but the US do so too :D
Connecting to any trustworthy VPN at the very least:
Encrypts your connection entirely and ensures you are connected to a party you trust
Limits snooping in your traffic to one party you trust
Which is objectively not a scam and a desirable thing to do. Not as desirable as hosting your own VPN, but 100% better than not having one, no matter what some guy on the internet says.
I think the first couple seasons of BBT are brilliant and then it rapidly became worse. There are only so many maths and physics jokes you can crack before it gets boring.
Also, it seems like the characters went from likable, socially awkward goofballs to just straight up being assholes all the time. Except for Howard, who kinda always was one.
Have you considered that you can be attracted to more than one thing, and that this may evolve over time? You don't expect people to be like 'I'm gay now' at age 12 and then automatically have zero interest in anything else, do you?
